"Let me form a contract with you," Shintaro demands desparately. She stares at him with amused, cold eyes, as black and lifeless as Shintaro's own eyes. A hint of a smile hangs on her face. She's pretty, in the weirdest way, with blood smeared all over her face and arms. She's pretty for a chain, a demon. She doesn't look like the others of her kind.
She raises an eyebrow.
"What's in it for me?" she drawls, leaning forward towards him. Her hair is long and a dull green, devoid of light. The abyss itself is devoid of light, though it serves as an odd comfort to Shintaro. He never liked the light, anyway.
"You can escape," Shintaro mutters. His cold hand itches in the pocket of his trousers. He wants to escape, he does, and he knows she does too, she's a chain, she's like the rest of them even if she doesn't look like it. She wants to wreak havoc in the real world. He knows it. "You can leave this hellhole."
"Tempting," the chain whispers, just under her breath, but loud enough for Shintaro to catch it. She whirls around, long locks of hair following and mimicking her movments. She cranes her neck to glance at him once more. "But why do you want to escape...?"
"I'm human," he deadpans. "I don't belong here." She laughs, and it sends shivers down his spine.
"My dear, some chains come from humans," she whispers. He takes a step back, and her smile widens. She extends her arm towards him.
"I'll form a contract with you..." A hiss escapes her lips. "But you'll wind up here again, and so will I..."
"I don't care," Shintaro huffs. "I...I just need...to find that person..." The chain looks at him, even more curious. "I need to find him...and I need to kill him...and that's all I want..." She smiles.
"You're after murder?" He nods slowly. "How interesting..." she purrs. She turns around again, facing him while standing on top of a broken jack-in-the-box. Her coal-colored eyes glitter and Shintaro gulps as her hand reaches forward and grips his chin.
"We'll find whoever it is you have a death wish against, and then we'll be sent back here..." Her grin widens. "And you'll stay with me forever." She looks crazy, really, but that slips from his mind once she leans in for a kiss. She tastes weird; like ashes mixed in with vanilla incense, and the tang of blood hits him when she bites down on his lip. She pulls away with a chuckle rumbling from her throat, and Shintaro isn't sure how he's supposed to feel. She wraps her arm around him.
"Kido," she whispers in his ear. "You can call me Kido."
He's going to enjoy pouring down hell onto those pathetic humans.
