A/N: If you haven't read my first two OJ stories "Zap" and "Crackle", go and read it otherwise this story won't make any sense. Also I'm trying to break from the "oc is in whole episode" mold, so if you don't see my oc in an episode for long it's either because they didn't fit in said episode or it's because I'm trying to write from a different perspective of said episode.
Today didn't turn out like Audra had hoped.
Today was Audra's 16th birthday. And she was sitting in Chief Gluteus's, office with her brothers Ozzy and Drix on either side of her. The chief was joined by the mayor of Hector, Paul Spryman and by another cop, Maria Amino. The chief was looking at Audra with suspicion and disgust. "So you're a mutant cell, huh?"
Audra slowly nodded her head.
"And you're a superhero?"
She nodded again. Before coming to Hector she previously lived in Frank, a man whose definition of healthy was… well, there wasn't one. She helped her brothers who were on the Frank Police Department or FPD fight off germs with her electric powers. They were supposed to take care of a virus named Scarlet Fever and then go out and celebrate Audra's birthday. However, their plans were canceled on account of them being abducted and brought here by a mosquito (an "alien" according to her brothers who have apparently never seen a mosquito before).
The gruff, old muscle cell folded his arms and said in a suspicious tone, "So what you're saying is that you're dangerous."
"How many times do I have to tell you," Ozzy said, "Audra isn't dangerous. She was powers and she uses them for good."
"And how do I know you're not lying to me? How do I know she's not a threat to Hector?"
"Chief, we have been with Audra for a very long time." Drix said. "She's never used her powers for evil, only for the good. She's not a threat to anyone."
Maria spoke up. "Chief, she did just help save Hector from a virus. Maybe she isn't as bad as you're making her seem."
"We can't keep a mutant here in Hector. She could infect him or something."
"Excuse me," Audra interjected, "but 'she' is right here and 'she' knows for a fact that she hasn't caused any mutation in the previous body before. This one is no different."
Gluteus turned to the mayor. "Mr. Mayor, we cannot allow this mutant and these two intruders to stay!"
"Oh, she's staying alright."
The chief barked, "What!?"
"The other two can leave, but she has to stay. Do you have any idea how cool it'd be to have a real superhero as my personal assistant?"
"What?" Audra said, annoyed.
"It'd be the coolest thing in all of Hector!"
"There is no way that my little sister is going to be assistant to some snot nosed punk!" Ozzy declared.
"Hey!" The mayor snapped. "I can have you on snot detail if you don't watch it!"
"Oh, really? Just you try!"
"Enough!" Audra shouted. He turned to the mayor. "I'm not going to be your assistant. I'll stay here in Hector."
Ozzy and Drix cried out, "WHAT!?"
"Only if my brothers stay with."
The mayor thought it over. "And what if I say no?"
"Allow us to stay here for one month," Audra said, "and if you don't like us, we'll leave."
After a minute, the mayor smiled and held out his hand. "Deal." Audra shook it. The mayor headed for the door. "Now if you'll excuse me, there's wrestling on the eye channel- I mean, I have very important business to take care of." And with that he left.
The chief then told the trio to head to Ellen's office to see about getting a place to stay. As Audra was heading out, the chief grabbed her arm roughly and said in a threating tone, "I'll be watching you mutant. Don't try anything funny."
Audra used her static cling to remove the chief's hand. The two briefly glared at each other before Audra left. She crossed her arms as she walked with her brothers. "Maybe we should leave."
Ozzy looked at her like she was crazy. "Weren't you the one who said that we should stay here for a month?"
"I just don't think that it would be wise for us to stay in a place that we are clearly not wanted in." She hung her head a little. "I do not want a repeat of my past…"
Ozzy stopped and turned to his sister. "This isn't going to be like that. Me, you, Drix, we've been through worse. No matter what happens we do it together, ok?"
An assuring smile appeared on Audra's face. "Ok."
"Audra, we know that we couldn't have a proper birthday celebration," Drix said, "but perhaps once we find a place to stay we could explore the area and find something to do?"
Ozzy smiled. "Sounds good Drix. What do you say Sparky?"
Audra was glad to have brothers, no matter how wild things got, that really cared for her. "Sounds great."
