Telling Him I had finally come to a decision. It wasn't fair to Maxon, I needed to tell him. At dinner I caught his attention and tugged my ear. My worry must have shown on my face because he tugged back immediately and mouthed "what's wrong" from across the room. I shook my head and mouthed "later". I was pacing in the gardens frantically. I had started in my room, but had needed to escape to the fresh air. "Hey what's wrong? I came as soon as I could, but I had to do some boring prince stuff after dinner." I take his hand and drag him to the bench where we first talked. "Maxon I need to tell you something. Something important." "What is it?" He questions, his voice filled with concern. "It's- um I- Uh." "America it's okay, whatever it is I promise I won't be mad. We we'll work through whatever it is." I take a dew deep breaths. "Okay Maxon, do you remember when we were talking about why I didn't want to go home?" "Yes, there was something about a guy, and your family also needed the money." "Yes, well the guy that I was trying to get away from is here. At the castle. He's a guard." "It's the guard that's from your home town." He replies, his voice sounding a little, mad underneath the calm. "Yes." I reply, my eyes looking at the ground, i can't bare to look at his face. "And is there anything else to this story?" His voice a mix of anger, jealousy and nervous worry. "No, no! I swear. We've only talked. I told him that it's not fair to you. Also that he had his chance, and now it's Maxon's turn. As well as the fact that it's not fair to me, and if he could just give me some space to think about everything that would be much appreciated. I hear him breathe a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you told me that." He puts his arm around me and we walk inside. I feel a huge weight lift from my shoulders.
