So, this could go with Peace in Chaos or be read as a standalone. Either way, I do not own NCIS.
Enjoy!
Ziva walked, or rather limped, into her apartment. The dead weight on her right side was not helping. Sighing, she threw her keys on her coffee table before unloading the extra baggage onto a chair. Mumbling, the limp body stirred in the chair he was slumped in. The agent smirked, pretty sure she heard her partner whining about not being on the couch.
"You cannot be on the couch until I put sheets on it." The woman replied walking to her bedroom. She came back a few minutes later to see the man making his way to her couch. Quickly, she ran over to place her partner back into the chair.
"Why can't I have the couch?" He mumbled. Ziva shook her head.
"I do not want blood on it." She confirmed.
"But I want the couch." The man whined. Ziva rolled her eyes as she put sheets on the man's bed. Once she was done she guided him to the couch.
"Goodnight Tony." Ziva said softly as the man buried his head in the pillow.
"Night Zi." He mumbled. As she walked to her room to get a little sleep before giving her partner more pain medication, she heard him call her name. Hoping nothing was wrong, she quickly made her way to the couch.
"You have pretty hair." He said, "I like it curly."
"Thank- you Tony." Ziva smiled knowing he was just tired and high on pain killers. Seeing him fall asleep again, she went off to bed.
The next morning, she heard a crash coming from her living room. Bringing her gun with her, the agent ran into the room. Looking up, Tony grinned.
"Hey Zi!" He said, "Just tripped over the blanket." Ziva sighed. Realizing she still had her gun, she went to put it on the counter.
"Do you need more pain killers?" The woman asked. Tony smiled at her before saying, "Nope!" Eyeing him warily, Ziva asked, "Did you take some while I was asleep?" The man was silent a moment before speaking again.
"I didn't want to wake you." He said softly. Ziva was wondering if she should stay mad at him. The look on his face made her not want to do so.
"Well, don't do it again." She lightly admonished. He nodded pitifully.
"Food?" She asked. The man grinned. Smiling, Tony followed his partner into the kitchen.
"Eggs?" She questioned.
"Yeah." He said as he lowered himself in a chair. She cooked the food and set it down at the table. As they ate, Ziva occasionally glanced up at him. After a few minutes Tony stopped eating.
"Are you done?" The agent asked.
"No," he said. She nodded continuing to eat.
"Why do you keep staring at me?" He questioned. Knowing she had been caught, Ziva put her fork down.
"I do not know." She responded. Before he could say anymore, she continued.
"I feel like I failed you when we were in the elevator." She told him. He looked at her, confused.
"I was supposed to save you. To have your six." She explained, "But then, you hurt yourself, and I felt responsible." By now the agent had pushed her plate away. Tony sensing her frustration, went to touch her hand. She moved her hand to her plate and took the dish to the sink.
"Zi." Tony said standing up. She put the plate in her dishwasher before standing in front her partner. She would have moved away again, but Tony rested his hand on her shoulder.
"You have no reason to be mad." He told her, "You jumped on top of me when the ceiling caved in. You did have my back." Ziva shook her head.
"You are still hurt." She told him. Tony nodded.
"Not like I could've been. You looked after me Zi. You kept your word. Remember, 'I'm not going without you'? You didn't Zi. You were there for me."
"Not at the hospital." She stated.
"Gibbs is my emergency contact Zi. I could change it to you if you want." Tony watched his partner smile a little. He hugged her before saying, "You wanna watch a movie?"
