The lights flashed around the only world that was left. Katniss lay on the ground, hearing the sirens blare around her ears. She pressed her palms to her ears, wincing repetitively as she shook. She felt an arm wrap around her waist, and she was pulled into a familiar chest. The other arm came around to rest on her shoulders. Her breathing became more even as she relaxed against him. They sat there as the sirens passed.

She looked up, looking into soft blue eyes. She gaped in shock, "Peeta." Though she knew it was him, she found it hard to believe.

He looked down at her, his eyes full of love and pain. "Yes," he replied quietly. "I thought you..." She couldn't finish because she wasn't completely sure how. She merely pulled herself closer to him, fearing the moment would end. Peeta lightly kissed her forehead and held her gently, struggling with his mental turmoil.

Katniss felt peace spread throguh her, one she hadn't felt in awhile. "I'm sorry," she nearly jumped at the sound of his voice. "Sorry for what?" She looked up at him. "I'm sorry that I doubted you...tried to harm you. I look back on it constantly and-" Katniss put her hand on Peeta's face. "Hey, don't feel bad...I understand, the capitol hurt you." She felt her heart break for him as his head fell on her shoulder. "Hey," she whispered, "I'll hold your hand while the world falls down around us."
