Prologue:

April 17th 1978

One day all this will be gone. Everyone I know, every place I love, will cease to exist. It will all just be a memory. And then, when there's no one left to remember it, it will be as if it never happened.

But we are here, we are living. I am looking at him and he is looking at me, and the sun is setting so peacefully. This isn't a memory, this is reality. His hand is in mine and I look up and he kisses me. In that moment we are one, and he is mine.

But every moment passes. Soon we will be just a memory. I don't want to be forgotten. We are real, we are alive. Our legacies shouldn't die with us.

Know that there once was a boy named Kurt Hummel, and he was all I ever wanted. He was kind, and smart. He was the bravest man I ever knew. But the world never gave him a chance. They never gave us a chance. The world is a cruel place, but somehow we managed to find joy.

Some stories deserve to be known, some people deserve to be remembered. Kurt Hummel is one of those people. One day, even when all of this is no longer, I want Kurt remembered. As long as there is someone left to remember it, it shall never die.

This is the story of our life. And this is how it goes.
