It Must Have Been
Characters: Lita, read to find out.
Disclaimer: I don't own a thing you recognize
Rating: K
Summary: Is it really over, just because you say it's over?
Spoilers: None really
Notes: I'm unsure if this will really be the end or if it'll spill over into a short series. I think it could very well stand alone but.. I've got this urge to fix things.. The story itself was a result of listening to music over and over again.. this story has also been posted at the litafics community at LJ, under the username: captivatingme. He stared at her dumbfounded... This really couldn't be happening, could it? She wasn't really telling him it was over...was she? He blinked, wanting to believe it was a dream, a nightmare to be more precise, but his mind was clouded...thoughts jumbled the moment those words left her lips..
It's over.
Lips that he had kissed just last night.
Lips that usually spoke of happiness, of special moments... Or were they just memories now?
He continued to watch her as she paced around the room, restless both in mind and in body. And how he wanted to speak with her, reason with her.. How he wanted to just touch her. Maybe.. Just maybe, she would come to her senses.. Tell him this was nothing but a joke. A cruel, sick and twisted joke he felt, but a joke none the less.
She stopped pacing...turning towards him slowly, the man seeing the inner struggle clearly written on her pretty face.
In one look, he knew, it wasn't just a joke.. This was harsh reality.
It's over.
The words spilled out of her mouth again, this time with more finality.. With a sense of forcefullness that caused him to think if she really meant it.. If she could really do it.. Could she really walk away, leave without a second glance?
And then she turned away from him again, her shoulders trembling, hair sheilding her face...not that it was necessary because he didn't have to see her face to know that she was crying.. To know that this was causing her just as much pain as it was apparently causing him.
Why?
Was his throat really that dry? Had the ability to speak coherently slipped away from him so easily? Did she really hold that much over him that she could..
She was shaking her head, glancing at him briefly and he knew she meant what she had said..
It's over.
Lita repeated the statement again, hands clenching and unclenching at her sides before she squared her jaw.. A look of newfound determination in her hazel eyes.. Her movements jerky before becoming cold and methodic..
She was really leaving.
And all Randy could do was watch...dumbfounded and shell shocked. The woman he loved, a woman that had claimed she was unworthy of his love...of any love. He tried to move, tried to say something more but he couldn't.. Couldn't move, couldn't say a word until she had left...three words whispered to the air.
I love you.
Fin?
