I had to write a story for New Year, so, here you go.
New Year!
Matt and all the heroes sat in front of the TV, waiting for the ball to start to drop. Hiro had put on a party hat and was jumping all around the room. Audrey, who was sitting in front of Matt, rolled her eyes and looked up at him. 'Does he have to do that?' she thought.
Matt laughed a little and whispered "I think so." She smiled and turned back to the TV as Matt put his hands on her shoulders. She slowly moved backward until she met her back with his chest. He smiled and laid his chin on her shoulder.
'What do you think your ex-wife is doing right now?' she thought. He hadn't really thought too much about his wife since they got a divorce and that was almost a year ago.
He shrugged and whispered "Probably with Tom McHenry." She smiled and nodded a little, remembering how his wife had cheated on him. Niki looked over at them and smiled. She couldn't help but notice the connection between them. She realized that Matt could probably hear her think that, so she turned her head away from them and concentrated on the TV. Matt smiled and whispered, in Audrey's ear, "Niki thinks there's a connection between us."
'There always has been.' She thought. He smiled and gently kissed her cheek. Nobody seemed to notice the action so they went back to watching TV.
The ball started to drop and throughout the house all you could hear was, "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!"
Hiro was crazier then ever, he jumped all over the room saying "Couples have to share their first New Years kiss." Everyone smiled and nodded a little. D.L. kissed Niki, Peter softly met his lips with Claire's, and Nathan slowly kissed his wife. Audrey turned her head and Matt gently captured her lips. For a second the whole room went silent as they watched Matt and Audrey kiss. They hadn't even known they were together. They broke apart and everyone around them stood silent.
"What?" Matt asked.
"You two are together?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, we have been for almost 6 months. What you never noticed?" Audrey asked. Everyone shook their heads a little.
The room was quiet for a minute, until Hiro asked, "What's everyone's New Years resolution?" The room was suddenly full of voices. Matt cringed a little bit at all the voices and Audrey noticed. She got up and held her hand out for him to take. He took it and she lead him to a room with a less noise.
"Thank you." He said softly.
'No problem, so what is your New Years resolution?' she thought.
"To do this more often." He said as he slowly met his lips with hers.
'That's mine, too.' She said as she gently returned the kiss. Outside the door, Niki noticed that two people were missing.
"Hey, where's Matt and Audrey?"
