Aubrey walks through the doors of the diner and immediately spots his girlfriend of several years and their one year old sitting at a booth in the back. He walks straight to them. "Sorry I'm late." He announces his pressence and Sarah, his girlfriend, looks up.
"Oh gosh, you scared me." Aubrey leans down and kisses her.
"Sorry," He kisses the top of his daughters head before sitting down in front of Sarah.
"Are you okay?" Sarah asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just a little tired."
"Long day?" She asks and he nods. The waiter comes over with their food shortly after Aubrey sits down, Sarah had already ordered their food.
"Dada." Their daughter, Skylar, coos reaching her hand toward Aubrey with a slobber covered french fry in her hand.
"You eat it." Aubrey encourages and the girl stuffs the fry in her mouth.
"She gets her appetite from you." Sarah laughs. Their little girl could eat.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Aubrey asks before taking a huge bite of his hamburger.
"She can put away some food, and so can you."
"Is that true? Is daddy's little girl a garbage disposal?" He asks tickling the girls sides causing her to erupt in laughter. "Do you have anything planned for this weekend?" Aubrey asks Sarah.
"Um, if I don't get this piece done, yes, but if I do, then no." Sarah's an artist and does commissioned work along with graphic design.
"Oh, cause I was thinking we could go away for the weekend, just the two of us."
"What about Sky?" She asks, if they go this will be the first time they are away from her for more than a day.
"We'll get a babysitter, or ask your m..."
"No, we are not leaving her alone with my mom for 48 hours."
"Well, then we can get a babysitter."
"I don't know." Sarah bites her lip. "Are we ready to be away from her?"
"It will be good for us, just think about it."
"I will, but I wouldn't want to leave her with a stranger."
"Aubrey!' They both look over when his name is called, it's Booth. He walks up to them. "You must be Sarah."
"I am." She nods.
"I'm Booth." They shake hands. "Aubrey talks about you non stop, and this little one must be Sky. She's adorable."
"Thank you." Sarah says.
"She gets it from her mom." Sarah blushes slightly.
"Booth, how old was Christine when you and Brennan went away for a weekend."
"Um, around a year. Why, planning on going somewhere?"
"Thinking about it." Aubrey says.
"Do it, it'll be good for you two." Booth says. "And if you need a sitter, Bones and I would be happy to do it."
"Here you go agent Booth." A waitress brings over Booth's food to go.
"Thank you." He says taking the food. The waitress leaves. "It was nice to meet you Sarah."
"You too." Sarah smiles.
"See you at the office Aubrey."
"See ya." Booth leaves.
"Look, we have a babysitter." Sarah shrugs. "He's a good man, he has two kids, his wife is a genius."
"I just don't know if I'm ready to leave her." Sarah says looking at the little girl who is to busy eating to pay attention to her parents. "But I promise, I'll think about it."
"Okay, just picture this. Me, you, 48 hours of uninterrupted free time. We'd probably be naked for most of it." He whispers the last part.
"James Michael Aubrey!" Sarah scolds and Aubrey laughs.
"What?'
A/N:
I love Agent Aubrey and I wish there was more fan-fiction of him. This is just a short story that I might continue, it depends on the feedback I get.
