A/N: This is set before Katherine came to the show. Just something I thought of, hope you enjoy it, and please review, especially if you want me to continue!

A Sudden Thought

Katherine paused staring off into the distance. She remember many things, lovers, friends, they never really meant anything to her. Not one really meant much to her. She had lost everything that meant dear to her. She could even remember her earlier years when she had tried to find her newborn, but it was all in vein.

She was just chasing shadows. It didn't mean much to look but even now those early memories stung in her, she could taste an awful flavour at the thought. The newborn had been hers, she often wondered, if only she had been born later, then she wouldn't of have to given up her child. She was however still only a product of her environment. She couldn't help who she was, or what she was. She had long since lost the softness of humanity, though she could remember those feelings well. She still loved her father and mother, and in numerous respects, she was still their daughter, but she was not that same person.

She was no longer that young girl who was soft and loving. She was no longer human. She was a hunter of the night and as such she became something else; something that hunted humans to survive. She couldn't remember the last person she had truly loved, a smile touched her lips; she was very good at manipulating others, a skill gained with time. She could easily give the illusion of love, but to actually feel it was almost a memory.

She had played with the hearts of suitors, allowing them to think of her to be under the spell of love. It was a private joke of hers. She could remember once when woman had courted her. At the time it had both shocked and intrigued her, for she had never heard of such a thing. Though the relationship was mostly about take from both ends and not care, but in the end, Katherine had grown fond of the girl and decided she truly did love her; however she could never love the girl as she wanted to be. In the end they parted ways with nothing but their memories.

Katherine smiled tenderly as her past. She closed her suitcase. She had to move to the next town, before they realised that she didn't age, she didn't want to think about being caught or harmed again. She was glad that as time had moved forward, more people had become more 'logical', and as such no one 'reasonable' believed that she existed. It made her life so much easier.

A/N: Being the fan of femslash I may or may not write a story about Katherine and the oc. If you want I will, but you'll have to review.
