Chapter 1: First look

Story of Jasmine McLeod

"…Real love never dies…"

Chapter 1: First look

That was the first time she saw his face… It was only for short moment as he rode in the horse circle on a beautiful dark brown stallion. She was sitting in the public with her Father, watching the horse race. Injury of her leg prevented her to participate this year, but nevertheless, she insisted to at least watch the race from the public. Her Father tried to talk her out of that, saying that she could lay comfortably in her bed, rest her leg and watch the race on TV. But, Jasmine didn't even want to think about it. And Hugh knew all too well that she won't give up. For past five years, horses were something that brought smile back on his daughter's face. He watched as she trained her horse Juno, how she fed him and how she won each year on horse race. Her work with horses brought shine of life in Jasmine again and Hugh didn't want to break that. He knew that she was lonely sometimes. No matter how much she was convincing him that she doesn't miss Regan, Grace or her Mother… Hugh knew that she missed them. But, he also knew that it hurt her till the bottom of her heart that her sisters didn't want to have a contact with her. Jasmine tried so many times to reach them, but they were always distant. Her Mother pushed her away years ago for the reason Jasmine didn't understand. She only heard one time when her Mother fought with her Father and yelled at him that naming Jasmine after the memory of 'that woman' was like creating neverending bridge between them. For her Mother, Jasmine was a ghost from the past – and she treated her just the way you treat ghost – like it doesn't exist.

Hugh knew all too well how terrible loneliness can be. He never got married again, he lived in a house on one small farm and he lived only for his daughter now. He was well aware that he will never be able to love anyone like he loved Prue. And so he decided to stay alone because what good could it get if he gets involved with some other woman and than just hurt her?

The sound of judge's voice announced the end of first round and it was half an hour break.

"Want some hot dog, Jazz?", asked Hugh.

Jasmine flinched, breaking her glance from that guy in the horse circle.

"That would be lovely, thanks, Dad", she smiled to her Father. Hugh nodded and getting up, he caressed his daughter long brown hair, saying:

"I'll be right back, you stay here."

"Okay", nodded Jasmine. She watched as her Father went away and than looked back at the horse circle. Second later, she felt her cheeks blushing as she noticed that young man's eyes set right on her…

It was their first eye contact… A moment when Jasmine felt that anything is possible.

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the night and the empty skies my love
To the night and the empty skies

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth turn in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command my love
That was there at my command

The first time ever I lay with you
And felt your heart beat close to mine
I thought our joy would fill the earth
And would last 'till the end of time my love
And would last 'till the end of time

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the night and the empty skies my love
To the night and the empty skies
