A/N: Hello Lightis fans! I'm kind of new to the fandom, at least writing wise, I am. :) I've been a shipper of these two since I started reading In Valhalla by Mango Marbles for the first time, and since then I've boarded the Lightis ship. Anyway, I wrote this poem and posted it Tumblr some time ago, and since it received such a positive reaction to it, I figured I'd suck it up and post it here.
This piece of poetry is called persona poetry. It's a short poem, (call it practice), but persona poems are poems written from a perspective other than your own. It's Noctis POV, if you haven't already guessed it.
The Last Rose
The clashing of swords echo within the castle walls,
and I feel rage like currents in a river
pour into my eyes, turning them,
from a midnight blue to a bloodshot red,
and the crystal recognizes the familiar gunshots of the Blazefire Saber.
Lightning.
One moment she was there,
gracefully, swinging her treasured weapon
at an opposing solider in a dance,
which she was leading,
between life and death.
The next, much to my shock and horror,
a resounding sound of bullets being shot
from another soldier hit her chest.
And in that moment, as she fell back,
her death was like watching
the last petal of a red rose take it's fall.
And then she was gone.
Lightning… it flashes bright, then fades away.
So sorry, I love Lightning, she's my favorite Final Fantasy heroine but for the purpose of this poem, I had to kill her. (Well, she's not technically dead since this is a vision). But ... *hides behind wall* please don't kill me. :) There isn't much of a story behind the poem, I just wrote it strictly retelling the events leading to Lightning's death, and Noctis seeing it all. That's all. I'd appreciate though, it if all of you can review!
