George was broken. His life had been torn to shreds. He wanted nothing right now, nothing. He wanted to be with Fred. He didn't want to be here, in the great hall, crying over Fred's dead body.
George told himself that it was a joke. Fred's not really dead. He'll burst out of his coffin anytime now and yell, 'SURPRISE!'
Any time now . . .
He's not really gone . . . Is he?
George could remember when he saw the corpse. It looked like Fred, the pale skin, orange hair and freckles, but it just couldn't be Fred. Fred can't die. Not now, not then, not ever. Why did Fred have to leave him alone like this?
Fred's face looked so happy. His eyes open and his mouth stretched wide into a never-ending grin.
George cried his last tear and smiled. He'll see Fred soon.
Any time now.
