Bell Pepper Blues

A poem about a certain dish cooked up by Jet that Spike is less than thrilled with.

I wrote this out of boredom one rainy day after re-watching some of the earlier episodes of Cowboy Bebop on DVD. It's about Spike's reaction to Jet's misleadingly-named dish. Please review!

Bell Pepper Blues

You know, they say a man can't live by bread alone

But when you're short on dough and far from home

Even bread can be hard to get

And that's why I'm forced to eat this...stuff

Bell peppers and beef is what Jet said

And visions of steak began to fill my head

'Too good to be true' didn't cross my mind

And that's why I was so disappointed to find

A heap of green peppers steaming and plain

"There's no beef in here" I pointed out with disdain

"You wouldn't really call this bell peppers and beef"

"Yes I would." Jet said, an answer so brief

I slammed my fist down and yelled "Well it's not!"

As I imagined a sirloin so tender and hot

Jet shrugged and replied "Well it is when you're broke"

I sighed, he was right, so I stomped off to smoke
