Hinata Hyuuga had liked Naruto Uzmaki for who knows how long. She has watched him for ages.

One day, she stood, hidden, at the gate of Konoha and watched Naruto walk off on a mission with his team. She watched him walk away until he disappeared.

"You should tell him how you feel," said a voice.

Hinata spun around. "Kiba-kun, you surprised me."

Kiba grinned. "You have been feeling a little down lately and I guess it had something to do with Naruto. Tell him how you feel. Maybe he likes you back. But you will never know unless you tell him."

Hinata didn't answer and just looked down.

Naruto Uzumaki walked towards the gate of Konoha, back from his mission. He was happy at the result from the mission. To him, that must have probably been the greatest mission ever. And standing next to him, hand in hand, was Sakura Haruno.

Hinata Hyuuga greeted them at the gate. "Naruto-kun, I need to tell you something," she said, but fell silent when she saw that he was holding Sakura's hand.

"ME, TOO," yelled Naruto.

"Um...I guess you can go first..." said Hinata.

"I'M DATING SAKURA-CHAN!" yelled Naruto.

That night, Hinata sat on her bed and sobbed into her headband. She had taken forever to get the courage to tell Naruto how she felt, only to never get the chance because of Sakura. She was too late. Maybe it meant something. Maybe she was never meant to end up with Naruto.

She wished she could just move on, but she knew that would never happen. She loved Naruto too much.

The next morning, there was a knock on her door and Hinata went to answer it. There stood Kiba with Akamaru.

"Kiba-kun," she said in surprise.

"So did you tell him?" asked Kiba.

Hinata shook her head. "No. He's dating Sakura-san. It wouldn't be right."

"Oh. Well, there will other guys besides Naruto," said Kiba. "You'll get through this?"

"You think?" asked Hinata.

"Of course. You're a very pretty girl," smiled Kiba, sheepishly.

The next day, during team eight's training, Hinata looked saddened. Not as sad as the night before, but still saddened. And when Naruto, holding Sakura's hand, walked past the training area, Hinata almost wanted to cry.

"Hey, Hinata-chan! After training, do you want to go get some ramen with me?" asked Kiba, noticing that Hinata was depressed.

"Um...s-sure Kiba-kun," said Hinata.

-

Five years later, Naruto walked out of his house. He was in a slump. How could this have happened? He had been dating Sakura for five years. And he had caught her cheating on him with none other then Sai. He had always had an eye for her ever since they had started dating.

Suddenly, he saw Hinata. Maybe it wasn't too late to tell her how he felt.

"Hinata-chan!" called out Naruto.

"What is it, Naruto-kun?" asked Hinata.

"I need to tell you something," said Naruto.

"What is it?" asked Hinata.

"I sort of have always liked you. You were weird to me at first, but then I found myself falling in love with you," said Naruto.

"That's really cool. I liked you, too," said Hinata.

"Cool. Do you...um...want to go out with me? Wait...did you said "liked"?" asked Naruto.

"Yeah. I once did. I'm sorry to say, but I'm kind of going out with Kiba," said Hinata.

""Going out"?" asked Kiba, appearing besides her and kissing her on the cheek. "I thought we were going to get married. You lost your chance, Naruto!"

"I hope we can still be friends," said Hinata.
