AN: I wrote the description for silence in my Jewish Literature class when my professor gave us the exercise to be quiet for 5 minutes, experience silence, and write what we thought. After reading it, I thought it would perfectly describe Teyla's thoughts while and for meditating, and voila...here is a very short one-shot.

AN HELP: I am trying to find a set of stories from Stargate Atlantis, but cannot find them after hours of searching. They are Rodney-centric with him developing a relationship with an OC over the stories. Summary of the set: They meet at her Starbucks coffee place where she works, they date slowly. She is an animator, and sends him chocolate and coffee when he gets back to Atlantis. They break up and Zalenka then "requisitions" her on Rodney's behalf. If you know the author of this series or the full title of them, please PM or leave a review/note with the information. Thanks! P.S. I have used the search section to death trying to find this series.

Disclaimer: I do not own SG: Atlantis

What is meditation for they ask me.

It is for the silence I have replied, my feelings ever more clear as the gazes confound with confusion.

Rodney doesn't understand—for his mind constantly working on the newest problem overloads him.

Ronon doesn't understand—for his body constantly needing to move against the enemy paralyzes him.

John doesn't understand—for his soul constantly searching for the next adventure blinds him.

Silence. It is so high above me. All encompassing, a cocoon of noiselessness in the noiseless nonsense. Yet, connecting me, no… us,—to people, to things, to the world, to God. Breaking the shackled bonds of societal failures and pains and releasing the man-deadened tired soul to a place of floating peace. Solace giving for a weary enigma of worldly contradictions—letting the circle of stillness and sound come together again and transcend the shallowly mundane.

That is silence.
