"Scully! Watch out!" she heard a men's voice calling. She couldn't tell which side it came from, but she immediately turned around. There stood another man: the man she and Fox Mulder were chasing for about three weeks now: Peter McKiddon. About an hour ago they finally found him, but while running after him they lost him again. And now, he stood here in front of her. Within a second Scully pulled out her gun and pointed it at him. "FBI, don't move! Stay right where you are!!" Even though she shouted these words at him, Peter kept coming towards her. When he was just an inch away from her gun he just disappeared. Scully blinked confused and looked around her, but Peter wasn't anywhere to be found.
Suddenly she heard a gunshot a few meters away. Instinctively, Scully started running to the place the sound came from. A few blocks away she saw Mulder standing, with Peter behind him. "Mulder, behind you!" she screamed, and at the same time Peter fired the gun he kept pointed at Mulder and disappeared again. A few seconds later, before Scully or Mulder himself could realize what had happened, Mulder collapsed and fell to the ground. "Mulder!!" Scully let go of the gun she grabbed when she saw Peter again and it fell to the ground with a loud bang, and ran to his side.
Dana Scully sat straight in her bed, all sweating. Immediately, she looked at the other side of the bed, but he wasn't there. Of course he wasn't.. They only just told each other that they loved each other a week before it happened. And she kept dreaming about it, reliving it over and over again..
She stepped out of bed and walked to the hall and opened the door next to the one that lead to her own room. She walked inside that room, but didn't turn the lights on. There stood two beds with in each bed a little girl lying in it. They both slept. Scully walked until she stood in between of both beds, and watched the girls sleep. She sighed. And he would never know.. A tear fell down her eye, and she just sat there with her daughters for a few hours.
