Jack Lost his Watch

"CARTER!" Jack yelled from his office. She would know where he put his watch. Jack waited a minute or two but when she did not reply he became impatient and stopped by her lab. Carter was always in her lab, always playing with something that he never understood.

"Carter!" Jack barked again as he approached the door of her lab, surprised that she was not in her lab, with no sign of her being in it. 'Humph! Maybe Daniel knows where my watch is or where Carter is.'

Jack stopped by Daniel's lab, hoping he would have an idea. 'All I wanted was to find my stupid watch!' Jack thought as he got closer to Daniel's lab.

"Daniel! Do you know where my watch is or where Carter is? She's not in her lab," Jack said.

"No, Jack I don't know where Sam or your watch are," Daniel replied without looking up from his translation.

"Oh. Well, I guess she might have gone to the commissary to get a bite to eat. I'll go check there," Jack said as he left the younger man's lab and headed for the commissary.

When Jack got there he scanned the room; he almost missed the blonde head of his 2IC sitting in a corner eating her blue Jell-O®. Jack walked up to her. "Carter!"

"Yes, sir?"

"Where've you been? You weren't in your lab."

"Sorry sir; I grabbed a bite to eat. What did you need?"

"Oh … um … ugh …"

"Sir?"

"Have you seen my watch?"

"No sir. Did you check on your deck or in your locker?

"Yeah, sorta … No; not really."

"Well, I'd look for it sir; don't want to be later than you usually are."

"What was that, Carter?"

"Nothing, sir."

"Well, I'm going to go look for my watch — you eat your Jell-O®."

"Okay, sir; sounds like a good plan."

Jack walked out feeling like Cater was hiding something from him. Like she wasn't telling him the truth.

As Jack left, Sam had to keep herself from laughing at the clueless General; this was too good to give up. She had to go take his watch — which she was wearing! — off the base and hide it somewhere just to see what would happen.

If it came down to it, she would slip it into Daniel's locker and be free of his wrath; he'd would never know. She was so evil!

Sam quietly slipped out of the room to head off base; she was done for the day and SG-1 was on downtime. Maybe she could put together a team night. So she walked off to find Daniel, get him in on a couple beers and take-out at her place. Once Daniel was in, Sam went to find Teal'c to get him in on the idea, then she would inform the General about their plans. Although he was not the leader or a member of SG-1 any longer, the team was still a team.

"Sir; would you like to join Daniel, Teal'c and I for beer and take-out at my place?"

"Sure thing, Carter — what time? I might make the time, I still haven't found my watch yet."

"Around 1900 hours, sir."

"I'll be there, Carter."

"See you then, sir."

Sam had even looked down at his watch to get the time and the man still had no idea what was going one before his own eyes!

Jack never knew that Carter wore a watch — 'Well, she IS the new team leader, so she does need a watch now' — but something about the idea did not make sense. 'Whatever,' Jack told himself, 'she's just doing her job'. He would ask about her new watch tonight. He groaned. Back to the mountain of paperwork that sat on his desk; the watch would have to wait till later.
