Chocolate
( because she knows that she can't get away, and she needs to carry on )
She knows that she needs to fight for him, and she knows she needs to do it soon, or she will lose him forever. She knows that it is likely that she has lost him anyway, but she cannot think of that now. The chocolate that lies next to her reminds her unbearably of him, and she knows she needs to stop reminiscing, but her heart does not go with this. As she continues to eat the only thing remaining that is remotely like him, she begins to wonder what her life would have been like he had not run off into the sunset, spinning the old line that he keeps telling her, because she knows that he is not too old, not too poor, and definitely not too dangerous.
As the bells chime in the distance, symbolising the start of the New Year, she knows that she needs to stop thinking about him, and she needs to sort out her life, but as she stops and stares at the chocolate, she realises that the only way forward is with him.
