{Music Insert: History - Sonic Mega Collection}
Long ago, beyond space and time was a planet called Mobius. Within the city of Mobotropolis, the Kingdom of Acorn was at war with an unseen enemy. During this time, Prince Elias Acorn was the primary heir to the Kingdom of Acorn and the first child of King Nigel Acorn and Queen Clarissa Acorn, alongside his younger twin sister, Princess Sally Acorn. A human scientist, Ivo, approached King Nigel Acorn, the ruler of the Kingdom of Acorn, with extraordinary ideas, thus becoming the King's royal adviser. Far ahead, Ivo soon became enrolled in building war machines to end the war with the victory. However, He and his former colleague Doctor Julian Snively launched a rebellion against the Kingdom during its joyful harmony.
Elias escaped with his mother to retreat from the terrorist invasion, alongside with a troop of soldiers from the Royal Guard led by Sir Ian St. John, being transferred to the last safe harbor on Mobius: the Floating Island. However, a SWAT-Bot patrol ordered their fleet to shoot down the aircraft carrying Queen Clarissa Acorn and Elias Acorn, and upon losing communication with them, they were presumed gone. Nigel had become traumatized and brokenhearted over the loss of his family, believing his wife and son are now dead. King Nigel Acorn receives banishment to the Void, a limited dimension that leads to a Special Zone.
Most of the citizens got exposed to a fate worse than death: Roboticization! All body parts became converted into machine-driven counterparts, with their free will now on a leash by the one who claimed responsibility for this new industrial age: Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the greatest scientific genius in the world! Now growing as the planet's supreme dictator, Dr. Robotnik began assembling robots of warfare, motorized by most of the citizens themselves. Within a year, Mobius immediately belonged into the hands of Dr. Robotnik, as well as obtaining a polluted, factorial cityscape named Robotroplis. His reasons for all this prevailed as his own. The aristocrats were left to play as the source of Dr. Robotnik's money. The aristocrats of the upper class can either help finance or lose their land and privileges and risk being robotcized. The citizens, meanwhile, have been robotcized and become slaves.
During that time, the evil dictator became opposed to a by a small organization called the Freedom Fighters, operating outside the secluded Knothole Village that became the group's base of operation. There, the group's leaders were none other than Sonic the Hedgehog and Princess Sally Acorn, sole heir, of King Nigel Acorn. They are acquainted with the following teammates: Sonic's best pal Miles "Tails" Prower, technical mechanic Rotor the Walrus, French coyote Antoine D'Coolette, semi-robotic powerhouse Bunnie Rabbot, and Dulcy the Dragon.
Acting as an insurgency against Dr. Robotnik's regime, Sonic and Sally would begin stopping the bloated warlord's plans by using the Power Rings from the Lake of Rings. Before the coup happened, Sir Charles the Hedgehog, known to be a respected and brilliant scientist, and the uncle of Sonic the Hedgehog, built the Roboticizer to help the elderly live longer. However, he found out that the project didn't only change them, it took away their free will. So, he destroyed it, or so he thought. Dr. Robotnik enjoyed the impression of beings with no free will of their own as robots and hoped to use them as his slaves. He stole the plans for the machine from Chuck to use in his conquest of Mobius; with Charles the first to be roboticized, an issue that pushed Sonic to become a Freedom Fighter. Charles served as a mindless slave to Robotnik, but then later regained his free will and served as a spy within Dr. Robotnik's forces.
Poor Sally searched for her father everywhere. But King Nigel was found alive in the Void from all this time, shared by former Royal Wizard, Walter Naugus, who was also imprisoned by Dr. Robotnik in the Void. Naugus tried to use the superhuman speed of Sonic to escape the Void, but both he and King Nigel discovered that their bodies became crystal after they returned to Mobius and were forced to return to their prison. Our heroes gain other allies, including Ari the Ram, Griff the Goat and Lupe the Wolf, leader of the elusive Wolf Pack.
The Doomsday Project was Dr. Robotnik's ultimate plan to turn Mobius into a lifeless wasteland. With all the help, every Freedom Fighter launched an assault on Dr. Robotnik's tower. Sonic and Sally utilized the energies of the Deep Power Stones, destroying everything in their target. Dr. Robotnik's tower was then obliterated, seemingly taking the doctor along with it. However, two ships were seen escaping, one could have been the Freedom Fighters, and the other implied to be Robotnik's ship. Snively was able to escape in a hidden elevator pod, taking him to the underground. The doctor's machines all got destroyed, and the roboticized citizens were turned back to normal, including Uncle Chuck and Ben Muttski. As for Snively, he plans to take Robotnik's place with help from an old friend.

It was like any day in the present time. Taking place northwest in a tropical paradise known as North Island, scrolls down to see Splash Hill Zone; a beautiful coastal area filled with rolling hills and an everlasting feeling of summer. Sunbathing in bliss was the Blue Blur himself: Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic's hair includes spiky quills from behind his head, with two extruding from his back and a short tail. He had blue fur for most of his body, His muzzle, arms, and torso are peach colored, and his eyes were green. His attire included white gloves, red sneakers with white strap, cuff and gold buckle on each.
"Ah!~ Man, this is the life! I just wish that days from before this could last forever. Like, no deadly traps or killer robots... Metal Sonic... Eggman or Death Eggs. Life's no fun without a little adventure, but even I need a break once and in a while." Sonic thought, lying on the sandy ground to catch some rays with his arms around his neck.
"Still…nothing can beat the thrill of saving the world. It's a pretty great way to kill time, but I prefer to explore and relax. I always knew I was the fastest, but I still felt the need to break my records than I am already successful at doing. Due to all that training I've performed every morning for the past three years, I got up to 7,000 mph with no aid needed. With a Power Ring, I went up to 10,000, and when I transform into Super Sonic, I can travel faster than the speed of light whenever I please. Of course, I've been craving for relaxation and exploration at the same time now. I know I wanted to relax, but I also want to see new places and probably meet new people. Though…" The spiky teen reveals his miserable smile.
"…I've pretty much seen every place on Mobius. From South to North Island, I've seen it all. The loops, corkscrews, ruins, caves, volcanoes, ice caps, casinos, carnivals, deserts, forests, and of course, islands like Splash Hill Zone. I lived in Mobotropolis and boy did I hated it. I wanted excitements and adventure, not mind-numbing routines. I need someplace new. I mean, who would revisit places they've seen repeatedly? Especially the one that I've left behind before..." He ponders for a few moments until a flashback hits him directly.

After hearing news about Dr. Robotnik's upturn in South Island, Sonic had volunteered to head on after the doctor. Tails decided to go along with Sonic, wanting to aid him on his adventure. With that said, Sonic approved. Sonic and Tails were parting from the Freedom Fighters to pursuit Robotnik, wanting to make sure the brutish genius would not ever cause any misfortune to anyone again.
Inside the War-Alcove was Sonic and Princess Sally Acorn. Sally was a female chipmunk with dark auburn hair that connects a stripe down her back and ending on her tail. Her face had a lighter brown patch where her large blue eyes are settled and had fewer cheek tufts on her muzzle. Sally's hair wore into a ponytail, wearing a blue vest with a collar, a black tube-top, grey sports pants held up by a white belt with a square, golden buckle, and a pair of blue and white sneakers.
Sally had been crossing her arms against her chest. "We can't afford the risk! I've got everyone depending on me for our return home. We all have to gather supplies and examine Robotropolis to make sure it's secured, but we don't even know if we can live there again!" Sally said.
Sonic paces back and forth with a stern look. "But what about Robotnik, Sal? There was-!" Sonic said before being cut off by the princess.
"I'm not saying that I don't trust you, Sonic! But we don't know for sure. I mean, Robotnik's supposed to be gone…we can finally reclaim Mobotropolis." Sally said with concern.
"There won't be any city if Butt-Nik's still riding our tails," Sonic said as he stops to cross his arms.
Sally took a deep sigh and looked at Sonic seriously. "I know that Sonic…but what about Tails?" asked Sally.
"But nothing, Sal!" Sonic said as he glances, "Robotnik could come back here tougher than before. Tails, though, I mean…it was his idea to come along with me, but we both know he wouldn't let us down."
"I know, I know…but-!" Sally trailed off a bit, looking away with a tearful expression to Sonic's attention. "I just…I don't want to lose you two as well."
In an effort of comforting the young princess, Sonic goes over and puts a hand on her shoulder with a smirk. "No worries, Sal. It'll take more than nuts and bolts for Ro-Butt-Nik to beat me." Sonic said with a thumbs-up to himself.
"You're not helping Sonic, and you KNOW it!" Sally yells at him in frustration before turning away, showing just how afflicted she is with him.
Sonic looked surprised and shocked at Sally's outburst. "Sal…" he muttered.
"I've lost so much. I can't lose you, too. You and Tails are like family to me, but I am not letting you both go to South Island like this, Sonic. We would have the best chance of finding Robotnik alive or gone and getting ourselves out of there. You know it." Sally pleaded; she didn't want to risk him ignoring her, nor getting him captured or injured because of it.
"But I know-!"
"So, does Tails as well, should we need him! You've more than proven yourself, but this is where you are needed." Said Sally, meeting Sonic's frustrated gaze.
"You need to stop." He finally said, turning to face Sally with this fire in his eyes that took her completely by surprise.
"What?" she blurted out, eyes widening a fraction as she unconsciously took a step back.
Sally looks at him with confusion, noticing how rare it was when Sonic became grave. At first, she wanted to protest, personally preferring that Sonic shouldn't exert himself against Robotnik until the Freedom Fighters were done cleaning up Robotropolis, but the blue hedgehog made it clear all too quickly that there was no room for argument. He gently placed a hand on her arm, turning her head to face him with the other.
"I'll promise you this, Sal. Me and Tails will come right back to Knothole if we don't find Robotnik in a month or if we find out he has no mondo plans or anything." Said Sonic.
Sally was unsure at first before speaking in a cracked voice, "Y-you promise?"
After a few seconds of silence, Sonic nodded as his answer. "I promise. Tails will be fine, too. He isn't a little kid anymore, because I know he can do this. After all, he learned from the best…" The blue speedster's eyes filled with a warmth that had Sally's heart fluttering in her chest and he bent down to press a kiss to her forehead. "…and you won't lose me, Sal."
After that, Sally quickly wrapped her arms around Sonic's neck, then pulls him in to present a tender kiss. Sonic was surprised at first but closed his eyes and returned the kiss. A few seconds later, the two slowly separated as Sally shows a reluctant smile. "I'm holding you to that, Sonic. I'm trusting you on this…do not let me down, okay?" said Sally.
Sonic shows off one of his courageous smirks, and says, "You always got my word, Sal."
"Good luck…Sonic Hedgehog." Sally said promisingly, with both Sonic and her giving each other one last hug, before separating once again. Sonic flashed a smile at her before he turned and dashed outside at top speed to go find Tails. Sally watched him, assuring herself that her speedy hero would return soon…but he didn't.

*END FLASHBACK*
"Three years from now, and Eggman's still pulling my leg. Of course, I've brought some peace and success to the planet. I've kept moving, spreading rumors across each zone and destined of becoming the world's #1 one-two guy. Sal knew she couldn't stop me once I made up my mind. Well, you know what they say? You can't go down on your word. Ever. Still, there's nothing new to do. It almost makes me miss the ol' doc and my robot-lookalikes. But hey! Winners can't be choosers, though…" The speed demon thought, pondering on about Dr. Eggman's schemes always getting foiled by Sonic, but he's never let that aspect stop him. That is, until now…
"SONIC!" yelled a voice in the distance.
Sonic turned around to see none other than the genius twin-tailed fox with a heart of gold and a panicked look on his face: Miles "Tails" Prower. The youthful genius was now grown up from his previous age. He has orange fur with white fur around his muzzle, chest, and the tip of his twin tails, and has bright blue eyes. His typical attire was red shoes with white toes and wore simple white gloves.
"Oh, boy…here we go again! The usual 'routine' as always." Sonic thought as he witnesses Tails hovering over to him like a helicopter.
The young fox's nickname came to be from his twin tails that allow him to hover for a limited time only, and they were a treasured addition to Sonic's strength and speed during their adventures together.
"So, what's up, Tails? Is Eggman back or something? Because I'm a good mood for something like this now." said Sonic with a slight sneer and some sarcasm in his voice.
"That's what it is, Sonic! I don't exactly know what's going on! I was on my way to North Island so I could show you one of my newest inventions! But somehow, half of the island is being converted with one of Eggman's factories as we speak!" said Tails.
Sonic held his hands up in misconception. "Whoa, whoa, wait…what?!" said Sonic who got up to his feet and began following Tails, "Dude, that's impossible! No one can work THAT fast!"
"Well, it's been occurring ever since this morning! Come look at my Miles-Electric and see for yourself!" said Tails, pulling out a yellow, multi-functional hand-held device to which the blue speedster became even more bewildered.
"Your Mile-what-now?" Sonic asks in a confused tone, taking note on the newer invention that was shown in Tails' hands.
The young fox blinked in confusion for second before his ears bolt up in a jiffy, replying, "Oh! Here is the Miles-Electric; a multi-functional electric hand-held device that can be used for video communication and a bunch of supplementary material. I wanted to create something like this one appliance that I also completed, called the Emerald Detector…"
Sonic could only stare at Tails' scientific confusion for a few seconds before sending himself to sleep. Tails ramble on only to stop and notice Sonic was snoring.
"Sonic, are you even listening!" Tails yelled out loud for Sonic to jolt up in surprise, waving his hands up in defense.
"Okay, okay! Sorry…now, show me what's going on in North Island?" Sonic asked, pointing at the Miles-Electric confidently.
Tails showed Sonic two pictures of the western region of North Island on his Miles-Electric hand-held. One picture displayed Mad Gear Zone in ruins, one of the old factories of Dr. Eggman. The factory began to rust and was taken over by nature. However, on the other, more recent image, the layout was not only restored but expanded by more than three times its original size, taking over Lost Labyrinth and Casino Street. Sonic briefly looked at each image that was displayed on the screen, causing him to frown a bit.
Tails continue speaking, "At this rate, It's only a matter of days before it reaches here at Splash Hill! We better do something before-!"
Suddenly, the twin-tailed youngster was cut off by a strange sound coming from the east. Sonic and Tails looked curiously over at the direction as the foxy tinkerer flies up to get a better look and see some commotion coming from a distance. Sonic held out his hands with a shout, "What do you see, Tails?"
"Sonic, I think something going on over there! It's like something is rising from the ground…is it…a rocket? No…Eggman?" said Tails.
"Yeah, but to where, pixel-brain? Eggman's got no place to run or hide, really," said Sonic with a nonchalant shrug, watching Tails hover back down to the sandy ground.
"Let's take the Tornado and check it out." said Tails as he points back with a thumb, followed by concern, "Though, I can only hope Eggman isn't back already."
Sonic could only exhale in acknowledgment. He knew what his foxy little brother felt about fighting villains like Eggman numerous times. The blue hedgehog simply walks in front of Tails to present a pat on the shoulder.
"Yeah…me too, little buddy," said Sonic. "Me too." With that said, the dynamic duo immediately took off from their exact spots and made their way to the Tornado's exterior parking spot where Tails had left it. Later, Sonic and Tails had just about readied their traditional bi-plane, the Tornado, when Tails sent out the boarding call to which Sonic just rolled his eyes with a smirk.
"Tails, we're the only ones here, you know." The speedy teen said while raising an eyebrow at the silly youngster.
"Ha-haha! I know, but I really enjoy doing that sometimes." said Tails who gave Sonic a wink, followed by a soft giggle.
Again, Sonic rolled his eyes but is personally smiling within his head. He couldn't have asked himself for a much better little brother than Tails. Even when Sonic especially owns the Tornado, but he freely allows Tails to use it throughout their adventures together. Tails took the liberty of adding an extra seat in the back in case Sonic could sit in the Tornado instead of on the wing. Of course, Sonic couldn't be more content of feeling the wind's brush. With the two prepared, Tail fires up the engines, and the giant red bi-plane took to the skies.

The silence in the air seemed too quiet, even for a day as breathtaking as this. However, the silence was suddenly broken by the loud rushing sound of the wings of the Tornado and the purrs of its propeller blade engine. The air breezed itself against the red wings of the biplane, creating streams of gusts along the edges. Tails bared a look of uncertainty on his face, as he looked at a radar visor below his steering wheel. The radar gave a visual representation of a red blip which resembled a mustached face, giving a light signal in front of his location. He pressed a few dials next to the radar, yet it appeared to be giving him poor readings.
"Ugh... I can't get much off the radar. How you are holding up, Sonic?" Tails said, looking up to the champion of peace himself.
Sonic is shown standing on top of the upper wing set of the biplane, arms folded across his chest and a frown plastered across his muzzle. His blue quills shifted up and down due to wind's strong current. The look of seriousness in Sonic's face turned to confidence as he heard Tails.
"Never have I been better, little bro." Sonic responds while keeping a grin on his face, continuing, "So, any luck on finding the energy signatures?"
The twin-tailed fox supposedly shook his head. "Apparently not, Sonic. The radar's signal is breaking up, but from the information I can gather, I'm picking up a huge amount of Chaos Energy. It must be why the signal isn't coming in clearly." said Tails. He starts pressing a few dials at the side of the radar, hoping to intensify the power to gain a greater reception.
"It looks to me like ol' Eggo has found himself a few Chaos Emeralds up his sleeves. Though, I always thought it is something more predictable than before." Sonic remarks then rolled his eyes with a lack of enthusiasm.
"Yeah, but this IS Eggman we're talking about. I mean…" Tails trailed off, causing Sonic in a bit of confusion.
"You mean what, Tails? You and I both know how stubborn that tub of lard is with his dreams of enslaving the world in his very own Eggman-Land utopia." Sonic said seriously with his arms crossed.
With prominent interest and slight confusion, the twin-tailed genius glances at Sonic with his next question. "Well, what do you think Eggman wants with the Chaos Emeralds this time?" asked Tails.
Sonic ponders to himself, standing in position for at least five seconds before breaking the stillness. "Knowing from Egghead, it's probably going to be another robot creation that'll probably be powered by the emeralds, yet eventually I'll beat it and send fatso flying away shouting," He starts impersonating in a low, old voice, "'You'll regret this!' or 'You'll pay for this!' or something like that."
Tails tried to stifle his laughter at Sonic's sense of playfulness. "I don't know exactly, but my guess is that we'll just have to find out for ourselves, little buddy," Sonic stated, gaining a hint of confidence.
Tails nodded in agreement as he sits there for a moment, pondering back in his thoughts about his pastime with Sonic. Tails was a smart kid. He was able to do many amazing things despite only being young. The fox youngster could build any type of device out of nearly anything. For days that pass, the little fox wanted desperately to be Sonic's true partner in adventure one day, but for now, he settles for being Sonic's pal. Both he and Sonic could still remember of the day the dynamic duo met and how the blue hedgehog had saved his life that day.
*FLASHBACK*
{Music Insert: Sonic 2 - Emerald Hill Zone (HD Remix)}
In Emerald Hill Zone; a green hill with cascading waterfalls, a young Miles Prower is seen being cornered by several SWAT-Bots. He is frightened and is holding his two tails out in front of him as a sort of shield.
"P-please don't hurt me…! I didn't mean to trespass! I swear!" squealed Miles who became very afraid with between no escape or fighting back. Suddenly, he sees a blue blur, and all the SWAT-Bots explode at once.
"Whoa!" said Miles to where his fear just suddenly erases. The young Sonic makes an Olympic-style landing in front of the bewildered fox, clearly showing off. Sonic looked a bit shorter and stubbier back then as he dusted off his hands.
"Look out! Cuz' the hedgehog sticks the landing!" Sonic said cockily.
"W-woah. You…you're the blue blur! I knew you had to be real!" Miles said excitedly, putting his hands on his furred cheeks with sparkling eyes.
Sonic smugly flicks his nose, while Miles looks at him in adoration. "The one and only, kiddo'! The name's Sonic…Sonic the Hedgehog!" said the spiky hedgehog.
"Whoa… he's so cool and so fast. Look at that spiky hair and those shiny buckles on his shoes, I want to be cool too, just like him!" The young fox thinks in respect for his new all-time hero. Much to Miles' disappointment, Sonic attempts to shoo him away.
"You better get out of here, pipsqueak! Places like these are crawling with SWAT-Butts right here, and a shrimp like you are just asking to be pummeled." Sonic says before turning his back with a small wave to the foxy youngster. "See you later, kid! I got to juice!"
Sonic bolts off, leaving Miles in the dust as he coughed. "H-hey, wait!" Miles called out to no avail, then darts after Sonic and, miraculously, can keep up with him by using all his speed. He's clearly out of breath though, meanwhile Sonic doesn't break a sweat as he jumps and glides in the air.
"This…this is exhausting! How is he able to keep going at a maximum rate? Maybe if I…" Miles ponders in thought before swinging his twin-tails together and flies alongside.
Then, the blue speedster races into the trees as Miles follows him, but when he came into the trees, he saw that Sonic was gone just like that.
"Tails?" said a voice.
"Huh? Where did-! Doh!" Miles trailed off before his voice cuts off from crashing into a tree and fell onto the grass. "Ow…"
"Tails?" The voice said again, followed by a small beeping sound.

The young genius was shaking his head until he realizes that he was back into reality. His bright blue eyes darted madly around the skies, then gazes at the speedy teen who was currently speaking.
"Tails! Did you hear me? I said, did you find something?" Sonic asked, turning his head around and towards Tails.
"Huh? Oh!" Tails heard a small beep ringing from the Tornado's cockpit and grip the steering wheel. "The Egg-Mobile is coming in range right now! Hold on!" he warned.
With that said, Sonic's confidence gave itself a quick boost of excitement while popping his knuckles.
"Well, well, well! It looks like Egg-Stache is in for the party of his life! Top speed, Tails! And make it a jiffy!" shouted Sonic with a laugh, pointing towards their direction.
Tails nod in approval before pondering with hope, "For the past three years, Sonic and I have spent all his time with each other, and we've become very connected. And once Eggman's gone, me and Sonic will finally come back home to the rest of our friends…We just need to hang on a little longer."
The foxy genius placed his right hand on the stick shift of the Tornado and pushed it forward. In an instant, the thrust at the bottom of the plane ignited, releasing a blue flame that roared as it sprung to life. The Tornado then began to slowly excel in speed, until eventually boosting to the point where it blasted off at high speed across the skies until disappearing into the distance.
