Author's Note: Okay, I really don't know the name of the Forest, you know, the one you have to wake up with the harp? I don't think it's the Sleeping Forest. I don't feel like playing the game again. Hopefully you all know what I'm talking about.
She Always Watched Him
The Sleeping Forest slept. It was always quiet there. The only sound was the river running through the smooth stones on its bed.
The flowers bloomed in the spring, a gorgeous kaleidoscope of gently waving blossoms.
A small patch of flowers bloomed on the bank of the river instead of deep in the forest like the others. They bloomed into a rainbow of silky petals, with fragrances that were traced with a delicate scent. It wasn't too sweet, and it didn't hang heavily on the air. It was like no other scent of the forest flowers.
A pink pattern of petals rested on the ground. It was in a curious shape, and it was always there. Even in the winter, if you were to brush back the snow, those pink petals would be there, as fresh as if they had fallen only ten minutes ago.
Sometimes a man would come. He was alien to the forest, but they accepted him. They knew he was not there to cause harm.
He always went straight to those unique flowers. The ones that grew on the river. He would sit there for hours, talking to them. He talked to the flowers.
Sometimes, they waved in the wind, and for all the world, it looked like they were answering him.
He cried when he came to the forest. He looked at the line on the ground, and he traced it with his fingers. It was always the same, the thing he did.
Sometimes, when he left, if you looked hard enough, you could see a figure standing in the flowers.
I'll tell you if you promise not to tell him. If you told him he would just be sad.
Sometimes, a girl stood there. She watched him walk away. She wore a pink dress, and she had long dark hair.
Her eyes were pretty, the same color of the leaves of her beloved flowers.
She'd pick up the petals off the ground. They would stay together, in a chain for her. She tied the long ribbon around her hair, and she'd stand there. She would watch him.
She always watched him.
