Prologue

A small girl looked in the starring night sky. Her brown eyes, that splashed violet at points, sparkled as the outline of the Wei dragons appeared. Goose bumps could be seen off the porcelain-like skin that was surrounded by onyx hair, which would sway from the cool night's breeze. "Cho Bi!" the girl's mother called. Cho Bi was the daughter of Cho Ling and the granddaughter of Cho Liang. A slim girl with a kind face, for the small age of seven, it was very farfetched that she would be turned down as a wife to a young lord. "Time to come in, you know how your father gets. The Wei army is said to be approaching the outer sea, if they saw you here you'd be the first target." her mother scolded. Cho Bi's father was part of the Wu army, a very high ranked officer, and became on edge when he heard the news of the enemy army. Cho Bi loved the outer shore which she stood on now, and it was about to be covered in blood. Who's blood, maybe Wu, maybe Wei? There was never a way to tell in the bloody battles of the divided lands.

Inside her small confines of her somewhat safe house, Cho Bi found it hard to sleep, even with the sound of the raindrops that started as soon as the moon became prominent in the blackened sky. Something was not right that night; usually the small child could sleep the night away. But the air that night was thick and smelled of smoke. That alerted her to her feet, and sent her flying out the small house. There she found the small village being burned to the ground, and no one noticed. Cho Bi began to wrack her mind for some thought as to what was happening, but only one thing came to mind. The Wei army had hit the shores and attacked, but how did she sleep through the battle when she never did sleep? She did not even notice or hear the crying of horses or screams of people. She did not even hear the pleas and begs of her own parents to the Wei officers to spare her; she did not even see their dead bodies in the house. She saw no one, not a soul in sight. What was happening to her?

Just as she began to think she was crazy, Cho Bi heard the loud battle cries of a large army headed towards her. The child screamed and it all went grey. Not her sight, but the colors around her (which were mostly red in this case). Everything stopped but herself and the stars that formed Caelum Draco (The Sky Dragon) twinkled ever so lightly and seemed to fall from the sky. A whoosh and a rumble and a gold dragon with snow white wings appeared. After that time it all happened within seconds. No one person could describe what was happening, even Cho Bi who was a witness. Cho Bi was swept away onto the dragon's back. The little child could feel its ruff scales as they poked into her skin, and felt the fluffy feathers on his white wings. The look of fear and confusion, that clouded her face, found a new position of amazement and joy. Cheerful as it may be, the girl had no idea where the dragon was taking her. For some reason she did not care. The dim moonlight only showed their silhouettes in the starry night sky. Caelum kept going higher and higher into the sky, so high that Cho Bi thought she'd turn into her own constellation.

Cho Bi let out a small girly giggle that caught the dragon's attention and it turned its head to her. "Dragon, where are you taking me?" Cho Bi asked. The dragon replied with a gentle growl and lowered close to the beach they flew over. Cho Bi felt the cooler water and knew they were headed north, Wei territory. The girl then started to care.

"Um, hey mister or misses Dragon, um, this is the Wei territory. I'm not supposed to be here." she told him. Caelum responded with a low growl and simply flew on. The feathers kept her warm, and Cho Bi drifted to sleep.

Short Short I know...
