It was odd having a girl my age on tour. She wasn't your normal everyday 19 year old either. She was mature yet at the same time she acted like she was 9. She had just joined us as the Massage therapist. She specialized in Sports Massage. Ten minutes before a show fully clothed somehow got your blood pumping, and 15 minutes after calmed you down and got rid of toxins. I had gotten stuck on her bus as we started down the road though. She had just given me an hour Swedish massage. Which was always nice. At the moment she was texting like crazy, than she randomly stopped and looked at me, at that moment I realized I had been staring.
"What? Is there something on my face? Or are you surprised I can still do a massage with how much texting I do?" She asked. I just smiled.
"No, just thinking," I said smiling. She just looked at me odd, than she closed her phone and got up, and walked towards her bunk. I couldn't help but follow her.
"Shane, why are you following me?" She asked, not even turning around. I wasn't sure how to answer. She was the only one who lived on this bus, so I didn't have the excuse of going to talk to someone else.
"Shane, are you going to answer me or not?" She asked as she got onto her bunk and turned toward me.
"I wanted to ask you a question" I waited for a retort but all she did was nod so I continued even though I wasn't sure which of my questions I wanted to ask first. I stared into her eyes and found myself replying with the first thing that came to my mind,
"Do you know how amazing you are?" she looked at her black converse and bit her lip as she shook her head no.
"Well, you are." I said finally having enough courage to tell the only girl who stole my heart the truth. She wouldn't look up at me but I continued,
"You are one of the only girls I know who can pull off a dress and converse. You can always make me laugh no matter what you say." I heard her laugh then sniffle.
"You never judge. You're sweet to almost everyone and when you're not it's because they deserve it. You seem to always have a smile on your face which is contagious. You're strong, because I know what you've gone through and I never could have gone through that with as much hope as you do." I stopped when I realized she had looked up at me smiling but with tears in her eyes. I waited for her to speak but when she didn't I talked letting my heart take over,
"You're beautiful even though you don't think so. Every time I see you my mind goes wild with plans of the future. I have written countless songs about you not knowing it until now. I didn't know I was missing something in my life until I met you now I know I can't live without you. Ever since I met you I have sung every song on stage as if I was singing them just to you, especially Inseparable and I've learned to live without my heart because from the second I looked into your eyes my heart has belonged to you." I felt my face get hot when I comprehended what I said. I looked at her and seeing her smile made my stomach jump and heart stop. I took her hands in mine and sat on her bed knowing I had said too much to stop now.
"I've loved you from the moment I saw you and wanted to tell you how beautiful you are." I stopped and went to stand up but was pulled down by Cori who pulled me into a searing kiss. It took me a second to realize what was happening and to kiss her back. We pulled away both out of breathe.
"Did you have another question you wanted to ask me?" she asked with a knowing smile. I laughed and replied,
"Will you be my girlfriend?" I felt her lips on mine again and when she pulled away she laughed out a,
"Of course, Shane."
