A/N: Just a little drabble here. I know I'm a little late to the game (by about twenty-three minutes, according to the clock) but I thought I'd post this anyway. Oh, and while this is a 4th of July related story, you really don't have to be accustomed with the holiday to get it. Other then fireworks and bbq, it's really not about the holiday itself. Anyway, that's it from me. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I own a very large nothing.

His Mustard Coated Kiss

"Wow."

Dr. Cox smiled at the inspired gasp from beside him. Newbie really was a man-child, wasn't he? He looked just as fascinated and awe-stricken by the fireworks as your every day five year old, and was that a smudge of mustard at the corner of his mouth? He sure did manage to pile off those hot dogs earlier.

"Newbie, you got a –"

"Shhh, Perry! Not now! Look at the fireworks!"

Okay, scratch that thought from before. JD wasn't just as fascinated with the sky's display as your every day five year old; he was more fascinated with the sky's display than your everyday five year old. Still, for one reason or another, that spot on his mouth was driving him insane. "Janice, it'll only take a second. Just get a napkin and –"

"Shhh! Perry! The finale's going to start in a second!"

Okay, that was it. No one, nee-hee-hee-hoeone, shushed Perry Cox, especially twice in a row like that. Ignoring JD's startled, "What the - !?" the older doctor grabbed his protégé by the chin, forcing their lips to connect in a hurried but passionate kiss.

Perry distinctly recognized the beginning of the grand finale, and even though his eyes were still closed, he could see the blaze of the fireworks as he kissed JD deeper, relishing the feel of his smooth, chinless face under his hard, calloused fingers.

Finally, he let go, smirking a little at JD's stunned expression, and the mustard-less lips that seemed plumper than when they had first started.

"You kissed me in public," the brunet whispered, and Dr. Cox was glad to find that his voice sounded ten times more awe struck than those silly fireworks had managed to make him sound.

"Yeah, Newbie, I did. Now shut up and look at the sky. The finale's almost over."

A/N: This is definitely the shortest thing I've ever written. I honestly wasn't even sure if I was capable of pulling it off. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it, and until next time!
