This is Areli White-Wings, and as a warning, this story may be a bit...open. It's some memories of my childhood, put into a third person perspective. So beware, I haven't had a perfect childhood, and I'll probably be crying as I write this.

"Hey Goliath! I'll be David, so why don't you get over here, freak?" The girl's face didn't change at the taunt, still stone cold, and menacing. But her head bowed a bit, her shoulders slumped, and her eyes looked past everyone who had gathered around her, mocking her. Their head's came to her chest, and the majority of them were six months to a year older than her. Short, quick steps carried her away from their taunts, but they just spoke louder, their faces twisted in hate.

Almost running up the asphalt to the road, she glanced side to side, then her long legs quickly carried her across the street and past the first home branching off the long driveway, her strawberry blond lob blowing into her face, her green eyes misting with tears, but held back still. The dark wooden front door was opened, and closed quickly behind her, five grey carpeted steps were vaulted over by a six year old girl, a door at the end of the hallway opened then closed, a stray shirt grabbed from the ground and wedged tightly between the door and doorframe.

A twin bed with a quilt over top of it, a pink pillow with Strawberry Shortcake, was jumped onto, the pillow sobbed into. She didn't know why her heart hurt so badly at their comments, she couldn't comprehend why they would say things like that. She wasn't stupid, or held back, in fact, she had been reading at the age of three and a half, simply because her twenty two month older brother was reading already. Did what make her a freak? Or was that her red hair and green eyes, something that was said to be signs of a witch? Was it her height? Was it that she was homeschooled? Was it that her family was larger than average? What gave them the right to torment her and make her believe that she would never fit in or be normal?
