How did Ash really react to Emma being a mermaid? Well it isn't that far off from what happened he thought in the episode that's for sure.

"Ash there's something I've got to tell you," she told me. Was this about what happened yesterday? I would have to think its about time because something weird is always happening around them. I never really understood it and I used to think it was a girl thing but I have never seen this happen before. I have a sister, her name is Paige, but she never acted like this before.
Maybe this is the reason why I like her so much. She's so interesting I can't help but be intruged, from her experiance with a horse. Then her phobia with water, and all the crazy things. Plus she was just so pretty, beautiful even sunshine yellow hair...
"Actually its something that I've got to show you," she said. Then she made sure nobody was in the house and dived into the pool. I thought she had a phobia of water. That was when the orange gold tail flickered in the water where her legs should be. Whoa. "Ash?"
"Whoa this is cool, why didn't you tell me sooner?" I said amazed my great aunt was right after all. I made a really good lunch and she told me everything.
FLASHBACK
"Now Ash be good when we visit my aunt Julia okay?" said his father to him. His dad, James Dove, was on his knees face to face with his 5 year old self. Ash looked down at the floor he wanted to ride with his horse Rebel not visiting some old lady. His great aunt at that but she still was an old lady, in his eyes. "Ashton William Dove did you hear me?"
"Yes dad," he said. When he got into the retirment home he saw his great-aunt Julia. She was blond and she wore these golden orange clothes. Julia eyed her nephew and great nephew with a great interest. Ever since what happened with Karl all those years ago, she was wary of all men. Even her own brother and family members.
After what seemed like hours his dad left to go to the bathroom leaving Ash with Julia. Julia and Ash were both quiet. Julia went back to writing in her journal and Ash stared out at the grassy backyard of the home. Rebel would love to try some of that grass.
"What are you dreaming about? Mermaids?" asked Julia. She looked shocked at the words that came out of her mouth but she said them all the same. Ash looked at his astonished at the words that came out of her mouth. Was she really talking to him?
"No I'm thinking of my horse Rebel I just got him last year for my birthday. I think he would like to try some of that grass behind the home," said Ash honestly. Julia eyed him and she thought he was telling her the truth, besides how many 5 year old boys thought of mermaids?
"As if you'd believe me anyway," said Julia looking down at the journal. Ash peered over at her unsure about what she was talking about. "Mermaids, you know a girl can turn into one. Just go to Mako during a full moon and jump in the moon pool."
Ash looked at her like she was crazy. He was 5 years old he was pretty smart for his age and he didn't believe in mermaids. "What about them anyway? They would just grow a tail when they go in water."
"No they grow a tail when wet, from anything a damp sponge or rain on their skin. They get powers over water, like heating it," said Julia. She wasn't afraid to tell her family this everybody thought she was crazy anyway... Why not them? "I bet you don't believe me do you Ashton?"
Ash looked afronted from using his real name. "No I believe you." When he was 19 he remembered the story his great aunt told him, just after she died.
