A/N: Hey guys! So this idea randomly popped into my head :P I have played TWW at least 3 times and the scene when Link enters Hyrule Castle and sees the statue of the Hero of Time has always stood out to me as special. I felt that Nintendo could have explored the feelings that Link has upon seeing his ancestor look so majestic. Anyway, here's a little piece I wrote on the subject. The giant stone statue in the middle of the room absolutely terrified me.
Of course, it didn't help that it looked exactly like me. All the way down to the pointed hat and the brown boots, the figure was an exact replica of me. Or rather, I was an exact replica of it. Either way, as I stood in front of it, I felt a strong urge to cower behind a stone pillar.
'Don't be ridiculous', I said to myself. 'It's just a statue. It's not as if it can come to life and fight you.' However, I remembered fighting Gohdan, who also happened to be a giant statue that came to life. Sighing, I drew my sword and carefully approached it. I half expected the figure to jump from its pedestal and start swinging his sword wildly at me. However, nothing happened. It stood still, his stone arm raising the sword to the sky. I narrowed my eyes and quickly glanced around me, noting places I could dive for if it started to attack. Turning my gaze back to the statue, I eventually came to stand in front of it. The urge to run was stronger than ever, but also, strangely, I felt…at ease. I can't quite explain why, but the presence of the statue also comforted me, in a weird way. I lowered my sword and gazed up at the statue. I felt a tingling sensation in my body, and I heard a faint melody that sounded like it was being played on an ocarina. It made me feel sleepy, like the effect a lullaby would have on a child. I shut my eyes and saw flashes of images I didn't recognize.
A young boy and a girl standing in front of a window, gazing at a man with red hair…..
The same boy, lifting a sword from a pedestal and being surrounded by a bright blue light…..
A young man, clad in green, standing on three golden triangles in front of an old man….
And finally, the young man standing in front of the man with red hair, sword drawn and ready for battle…
I opened my eyes with a gasp. Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I looked once more at the statue and realized exactly who it was. I smiled and said in a low voice,
"Farewell…..hero."
As I left the room, however, I could almost feel the statues eyes on me, as if it was sad that yet another young child was afflicted with the curse of the hero.
