Raven didn't know how she ended up in front of those all to familiar gates. Just that being there now felt like the first time all over again. It was nearly midnight when Raven pushed open the gates and made her way up the drive. She took a shaky breath and moved around to the back of the building where she came face to face with something she wished she'd never have to see. Her brother's grave.
Only taking a moments hesitation, Raven sat down in front of the stone and stared at the bust. Her brother was dead. The words meaning still did not hit her even as she sat there. It didn't feel right. The man who fought for everyone and never lost his faith in her. The man who took her in without question and didn't ask her to be what she wasn't. Her family.
"Oh god Charles what have I done. I chose a man who was so blinded by hatred that he couldn't see he was becoming what he hated. I chose him because I thought he loved me. I chose Erik over my own brother. The man who gave me a home. I should've been with you. Not against you. I understand now Charles. I'm so sorry that I'm to late." Raven burst out with tears streaming down her face.
"I should've come home." She whispered setting her hand on the stone and dropping her head.
"Goodbye my brother. I love you." Raven said before pulling herself together and standing up. Taking one last look at the grave she turned left the way she came. The tears still present in her eyes as she left her home for what might be the last time. All she knew was her brother would not die in vain if she had a say in it.
