My choice
"No."
"What do you mean no? you've wanted this since you were ten freaking years old."
"But..." For once Damian didn't know what to say. All his life he had been trained to become Batman, told this is what his purpose in life was; to bring honour to his family. But now that it was in his grasp he wasn't sure if he wanted it.
"I- no." Shoving Grayson's hand away he pushed past, bracing his arms on one of the Batcave's numerous machines.
"Are you sure?" He felt eyes on his back but refused to acknowledge.
"Yes Grayson, I am perfectly aware of the decision I'm making. I-" Dick watched as the boy's back straightened and he turned with a steel glare. " You believe I am prepared to take my father's mantle and rightful place. But you are my superior in many ways and deserve it more than I. I'm not saying I never will be Batman but I wish to..experiment. My mother and grandfather have tried to control my life, even after we went separate ways. By refusing I am making my own choice. Even if that means not meeting expectations."
Dick smiled, ruffling Damian's hair like he use to years ago. " I think Bruce would be proud. I know I am"
