"What are you looking at, geek?" I called across the canteen, my legs crossed delicately on the edge of the table and my grin wide across my face. Little Bruce Wayne flushed the colour of blood and looked away, anything to not be caught glimpsing at us. But he had and that was sure to piss off Jay, he didn't take well to people looking at his property. Today however he just seemed like he wasn't really in it to annoy the other teenagers in the room, like he really didn't care too much at all.

"Just leave it Harls, the kid ain't worth getting a rise out of anyway." Jay didn't lift his eyes from the scrutinising looks he was giving his apple and I could feel my pulse increasing ten fold, not worth it? That little scum was the reason I wasn't allowed to go out on Friday nights, or see Pamela and Selina. That little brat was the reason I was failing math, because he refused to help me in our study sessions and instead sat and read a book.

I could feel the burning rage fill me and my eyes glazed over with hate, I was going to kill that boy one day. It would be glorious and wonderful; my laugh would fill the air as his own blood filled his lungs. He would gargle and scream for help but all there would be was me and my puddin', Cheshire cat grins and wide, erratic eyes looking down as the blush finally drained from his cheeks.

I stopped and looked at Jay, his beautiful green eyes examining the piece of fruit as if it was the most interesting lab experiment ever and my mind wondered to the time when thoughts like the ones I had now would terrify me. I remembered a time when Jay's laugh, the smell of his breath would repulse me instead of allure me. A time when I was simple and innocent and oh so boring.

I remembered a time when I was Harleen Quinzel.

A/N review pleasure :)
