SJ - Ok so I'm not a big fan of songfics but my muse wrote this one – I had no part in it I swear!!
Jack finished putting the leftover food in the fridge and smiled as he got walked back into the living room. Cassie and Sam had fallen asleep on the sofa, Cassie's head leaning against Sam's shoulder as Sam's arm hugged the young girl to her. Cassie's CD player was still playing some pop song she had been listening to earlier. Jack went to turn it off when the lyrics of the song caught his attention.
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart

Jack smiled ruefully to himself, that summed up his relationship with Carter alright

In his mind he saw her face as she was trapped behind that damn force-field aboard Apophis' ship, the look she gave him as she let her death come, just looking into his eyes. He could remember seeing the love in her eyes then;

Cassie had woken up now as the song came to an end, and she could see what Jack was thinking, she looked sleepily between Sam and her Commanding Officer
"I know" she said, then she sighed "but I won't tell. But you should know too." With that she put her head back on Sam's shoulder as was soon asleep again, but Jack was left with quite a bit to think about.
You say it best when you say nothing well that might be true, but maybe one day words might help.
