Hi so I've just watched Titanic and it was so good! I might go on a rant here but it's so sad but beautiful and deep and emotional and ... yeah. Tell me if you've watched it!
I just had to write this. I hope you enjoy!
Tell Our Story Too
Chapter 1: Crew
The resounding crash of the unsinkable Titanic's back finally snapping and sliding into the silky embrace of midnight-blue Arctic waters echoed through the air; the very same air that was slick with cries, screams and shouts. More sounds of desperation pierced the eerie calmness of the crew as their panicked eyes flicked helplessly from the wailing mass desperate for salvation, to the frantic few trying in vain to lower the boats faster, to the stricken faces of those already in the boats and unable to help further, to the bodies floating in the freezing, writhing ocean, to the damp hands clinging onto the ship's rails, barely managing to hold onto life. Whose lives came first? Who was the most important?
Who were they to decide?
Finally, a Helmsman broke the spell and yelled, straining to be heard above the clamour for some sort of lifeline.
"Everyone help each other! If someone's falling, grab them, but don't go down with them! If you're just running, stop and help! Get everyone out of here!"
I And in those precious few moments that he prayed wouldn't have been a waste, people listened, brought out their humanity.
I was slipping and then I saw a hand. I grabbed on. Fifty years later I have never seen that man again, and he might be dead. But he saved a stranger. I am so grateful.
I was running but I moved to help with the boats, and then I almost fell into the water. But not before the woman I'd helped into the boat pulled me on top of her.
I was in the boat, and I heard the shout, and I looked, really looked. There was a pregnant woman next to me, floating. I pulled her to the boat, and when there was no room I got out. Two lives for one. Not a bad deal.
