Link's sleep went on for an eternity, it seemed. Dreams swirled through his confused head, almost awakening him with their terror, but not quite. A flash! What was it? Link looked around, even more confused than when he had started. Surrounding him was a vast forest with trees taller than any found in the Lost Woods; perhaps even twice as large. Another flash! What was that!? Link was growing annoyed. He searched around frantically, looking for the source. He looked up. The rain was beating down on him, cold and hard. He hadn't even noticed he had been wet. Or had the rain just started when he looked up? He didn't know. It came down in sheets, looking like a cloak blowing in the wind. Yet another flash! It was lightning. Link looked down, no longer afraid. Lightning. He was in a clearing. He would be fine. He noticed the rain pelting down on the grass, creating a muddy mess. He stomped his feet a bit, feeling like a child again, letting the water rise, then splatter all over his hose, creating a messy brown patch of muck all along his lower legs. Flash! Then, a noise! He knew it was thunder, though. He wasn't stupid, or at least not this time. He walked over to a nearby puddle, and bent down to look at his reflection. What he saw, he did not expect. A horrible, ugly beast! Link's nose was vast and warty, and all his skin was a hideous, scabbed shade of grey-green. His - once brilliant, now dull and beady - blue eyes gleamed, reflecting the fear he felt. His once drawn, thin mouth now had huge, pepper-coloured lips with sores blossoming all over. He opened his mouth wide with terror, but his teeth were now spaced apart; the colour of a pale yellow moss. He screamed loudly, and instead of his youthful, handsome voice, he heard an apeish, woeful bellow. He splashed the water heavily with his beefy, scabbed hands, breaking the reflection in hopes it would disappear. Flash! He stood. Through the turbid darkness, he saw a cloaked figure, sitting atop a winged steed. The creature it rode was a lovely shade of powder blue with a rich, indigo mane and tail that blew about freely in the heavy wind. Its wings were vast and pearly. The figure had its legs draped over the steed's left side; its feet dangling lightly. It clung to the steed tightly around the neck, when Link realized that the rider must have been a child. The steed broke into a run, straight for Link. Faster and faster, it neared, aiming directly for the young man. Flash! The horse looked almost ghostly in the lighting. But why wasn't it slowing down!? Flash! Flash! Crackle! A tree cracked and fell, falling directly in Link's direction. Flash! The horse sped up! Flash! The tree fell faster! Flash! Flash!
Link bolted up in bed, screaming loudly. His manly, yet youthful voice had returned, and he groped his face, feeling no scabs, deformed nose, or large lips. He whiped the feverish cold sweat from his forehead, and looked around his room, allowing his quickly beating heart to slow. He put a hand on his chest. It was just a dream. He looked outside, the silvery moonlight pouring in through his window. He touched the cotton, light blue-checkered curtains to make sure they were actually there. He put his palm to the window, watching it fog up slightly. What does it mean? He thought. What does it mean?
END?
There we go. Well, this MAY be a prologue, that is, if anyone wants me to continue it. If yes, please review!
