Rain pattered the windows, an insistent tapping rhythm on the large glass that allowed the dim light of the morning to spill into the large master bedroom of the mansion.

The gray shafts of light casted themselves in symmetrical squares along the floor shining down on the disarray of the room. Gently, the rain picked up loud enough to disturb the lovers who were lying in each other's arms on the grand bed. With a greedy hand, the blanket was stolen away from the younger woman who unconsciously brought herself closer to the other for warmth.

Korra's mouth, slightly open, nuzzled into Asami's collar bone as she tiredly brought her arm around the slant of the other's hips. Her hot breath landed on Asami's skin, dusting it with a warm dampness that caused the elder to grunt in her sleep.

The annoying sound of the rain shower was nothing compared to the obnoxious toll of the alarm clock that made the pair jolt awake. Asami's eyes opened halfway as she forced Korra off of her body to roll and turn clock off.

Pausing at the edge of the bed, Asami looked outside of the clear glass at the milky, saturated skies that showed no sign of stopping and the nearly flooded roads. With the quick mind of a CEO, she made the executive decision to fall back into the sheets and mold her body back into Korra's complimentary shape.

Asami's hand stroked Korra's loose hair and the Avatar smiled a sleepy smile, "Hey… No work today?" That smile came closer and skated lazily across her jaw and back in a caress.

Fingertips traced along Korra's body, painting an imaginary picture of how each swell of muscle fiber and each slope of bone added to create the masterpiece; Korra shivered in her arms as Asami's index finger slid up the pronounced V at her abdomen. Asami shook her head, shifting her tangled legs, "No, I think I need to rest my bones for a little while."

Patient lips waited for her to finish with her whisper before they stole a soft kiss, "Rest your bones with me." Slowly, as if they hand all the time in the world, Korra's hand ran a path down the length of her spine, "Life's gets hard to do, don't you think? The Avatar and the Heiress deserve a little break."

The room darkened as a particular dark storm cloud passed overhead and they watch each other in the minimal lighting, smiling when they see each other through the blackened shadows. It was foolish of them to be so happy with these fleeting moments and these simple touches, foolish of them to be so at ease when the world around them was at another breaking point, foolish of them to feel that days like this were more than just another lazy Sunday Morning, but they ignored their foolishness and irresponsibility for just a few more hours until the sun broke through the clouds and duty called.
