Not sure where the princess and the pea originated but it's not from me.
In a world much like our own,
a princess did live,
she ran from home,
and came to a castle in another kingdom,
here she did find,
a prince and his family,
who were looking for a true princess,
so she and others must go,
through several tests,
to see who was a true,
sensitive caring knowledgeable princess,
our princess was currently not princess looking,
she was grungy and tired,
her once beautiful dress,
in tatters,
her hair tangled and knotted,
they offered a bath,
she took it with grace,
they asked her all questions,
she answered them all,
and correctly at that,
they dressed her up nice,
then she looked like herself,
her porcelain skin had a nice blush,
her golden brown hair shined,
her hazel eyes looked more awake,
then did come the final test,
stacked twenty mattresses,
upon them,
twenty down filled comforters,
up she climbed her ladder,
unknown to her or the others,
a single pea hid under them all,
I should sleep good,
our princess did think,
she laid down and tried to sleep,
but found a hard lump,
unable to get comfortable,
she tossed and turned,
she woke up sore,
and more tired than before,
a brave face she put on,
and to breakfast she went,
the other girls talked of their great sleeps,
ours remained quiet,
not wanting to insult her kind hosts,
the king then did ask,
what about you my dear,
how was your sleep,
sadly sir,
sleep I barely did,
my bed had a lump,
tis hardly your fault,
she answered honestly,
nay tis our fault,
a single pea ,
was left beneath them,
truly a princess you are,
we offer a pact,
between our two kingdoms,
if you are willing to marry our son,
please let me get to know him,
then I can say,
not before though,
together they walked,
together they talked,
close they did grow,
'til one day she said,
I will,
they were married,
both families quite happy.
