The Phantom free verse
Once there was a man, who hid from the sunlight, like a bat
He wore a mask that hid his face from the world
He was a daring, demon, devil
He lived in an opera house, which was like a playground to him
He was all alone
Living frightened and alone
His mask, his music were his only friends and he was alone
The one day he went up to the light, he thought it might kill him
There he saw a young girl, beautiful, like a rose.
He loved her more than anything he had ever known
He longed to be with her, to protect her
So he came to her in her sleep and taught her how to sing for him
To sing for him alone
To sing out the talents she had
To sing like an angel of music
He wanted to stay with her forever, but forever didn't want them to stay
There was another who loved her too
A test was brewing over who would win or die
The phantom knew that the lover was stronger than him by far
So he let the to be and went back down below
The night music welcomed him back, and he felt safe again
The girl who knew him only in sleep would also remember him
The phantom would keep his love for her safe…..until they should meet again
