Crossroads
"Morgana!" Arthur screamed as he ran down the corridor. She glanced in his direction before disappearing round the corner. He had to stop her, why couldn't he see it before. She had turned on her friends, on Camelot and on him. Now if he didn't stop her she was going to kill his father. As soon as Merlin had told him he had watched her closely and began to see she was not the same Morgana as she was before. She was cold. He skidded round the corner his shoulder bumping against the wall. But the corridor was empty. A door further down on the right was slowly closing.
This was it, the moment that the King of Camelot would die. The silver light of the moon fell across the darkened room lighting up the place where the king lay. She watched his chest rise and fall as he lay asleep. The only thing she felt towards her guardian was hatred. Morgause was her only family now and she would be proud of her for what she was about to do.
She raised the knife its steel tip glinting in the moonlight. As she brang the knife crashing down something knocked her to the ground winding her.
Arthur picked her off the ground and hefted her over his shoulder in one quick motion. Luckily his father hadn't woken up when he had knocked her down.
He set her down against the wall and squatted down in front of her blocking her path so she couldn't run away nor attempt to run back into the room to kill his father again.
"Move out the way Arthur. Else I will hurt you." She said darkly beginning to catch her breath back.
"You wouldn't hurt me Morgana."
She leaned her head back against the wall closing her eyes for a second.
"I can't allow you to kill my father."
"I know." she paused then sighed "I guess that means we are at a crossroads."
Her hatred of Uther was above everything except the love she felt for Arthur. Her heart may have turned cold but not for him. The love she felt for him would always remain. He always stood up for her listened to her advice when he was in trouble. He was so unlike his father. She could never hurt him even if she wanted to.
Arthur watched her as her eyes began to fill with tears. He could see the emotional battle that was raging on behind those beautiful green eyes. Her duty to Morgause or the duty to her heart. He sat back and pulled her into his arms holding her close as she buried her face into his chest hiding her tears. He couldn't not forgive her for all that she had done she was still his Morgana and he would always try and set her right. It was what she would have done for him.
"I'll always be here for you." he murmured kissing the top of her head as they sat in the half lit corridor. He wished that time would just stop there and then so that they could stay like that forever. Locked in one another's embrace.
But time stopped for no one and soon the harsh reality of it all would come crashing down upon them like the waves of the sea
and soon the bitterness of the world would decide to tear them apart.
