Are you happy?

Diana sighed and re-read the poem that seemed to echo her feelings so perfectly. It was silly really. Wally had been coaching her on the many wonderful uses of the internet, and had randomly suggested – after she'd finally convinced him she really didn't want to download modern music – that she have a look at poems people had published. And she's come across this.

It was almost as if it had been planted there for her to find. At first she'd thought Wally might have had something to do with it, but later dismissed the notion, after all, how would he know how she felt?

So she'd put it down to coincidence. It wasn't as if it was written about him anyway...was it? How could it have been? It wasn't. But somehow, she still wasn't convinced…

It was about grief over the death of a loved one. The 'I' being the mourner, the 'you' being the loved one.

So why could she only think of Bruce when she read it...?

---

As I look into your blank, all-seeing eyes, I can't help but wonder…

Your fixed expression gives nothing away.
I wish you'd open your heart, open your soul, open your eyes to me.
Show me you're not empty.

You're so cold. Why?

It's hard to believe, that once you laughed, once you smiled, once you lived like everyone else,
Before it was all snatched away.

Shrouded in shadows, the cobwebs muffle your footsteps.
You're silent as the night steals you away.
Don't go.
Please.

Won't you take my hand once more, and let me feel its warmth?
Won't you hold me? Won't you kiss me?
Won't you tell me that you love me?
Or at least won't you smile for me again?

You never will.

As I'm lost inside your blank, all-seeing eyes, I can't help but wonder…

Are you happy?
