Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)

"Sammy, you can be superman, I'm batman!" a little boy told his baby brother. They lived in a house where it was full of happiness and laughter. Mary Winchester laughed at hearing the boy tell his little brother that. She was washing up when she heard Dean say that. It was true, Dean loves batman more than anything except for pie and his mommy. Dean wouldn't know what he would do if he lost his mommy. He was 7 and had a big imagination. Sammy was 3 and very funny. His laugh fills up the whole house when dean did something funny. Sammy may have been little but he knew the difference between stuff. He could tell if his brother was hurt. If Dean was hurt, Sammy would crawl over to Dean and give him an awkward hug. After the hug is over Sammy would start whining and crying until Mary came and saw what's wrong. Because brothers have to stick together and that's what family's for. Dean always helped put Sammy to sleep. He loved feeling important.

"Come on Dean, let's go put your brother to bed," the beautiful Mary Winchester said. Her voice was like velvet to the little boys. Dean put up his arm suggesting that he wanted Mary to hold his hand. She did what she was told and took hold of the child's little hand while holding Sammy in her other arm. Together they walked up the stairs to Sammy's nursery. Laying Sammy down and tucking him in, she said goodnight. "Godspeed, little man. Sweet dreams," she cooed and kissed him on the head.

"Night Superman!" Dean called out as his mother stepped away from the crib. He walked forward and pecked the baby on the head. Dean just started randomly talking to Sammy about how great Sammy is at being a superhero and how when they grow up they are going to live together and be superheroes and fight evil like the joker because Sammy was scared of the joker. Mary just leaned back against the wall as she watched the eldest talk and make Sammy laugh. This is what she wanted. She wanted a loving family. She wanted her boys to be happy.

"C'mon Dean, let's go to sleep," she called out and he ran over into her arms. She lifted him up and walked to Dean's bedroom. When she finally got him settle, she sat on the side of the bed.

"I love you mommy," the 7 year old whispered.

"And I love you too," Mary replied giving him a big hug.

Mary was nearly asleep when she heard little feet scamper up the hall way. Soon the door to her bedroom creaked open and a little face poked through.

"Mommy?" the head asked. Mary could tell it was Dean.

"Yes, Dean," she answered.

"I can't sleep," he told her. Dean's face looked sad and gloomy.

"C'mere, you can sleep with me. As long as you don't tell daddy," she whispered so it sounded like a secret. Dean's face lit up when she said he could sleep with her. He ran over and jumped in cuddling up to Mary. And that's how they fell asleep.
