sasusaku month: day two
prompt: no filter
Their love was never easy; it was anything but that. Even their lives weren't easy. He was a former criminal of the village. A man who lost all and believed that vengeance was the only thing to live for. At a tender age, he lost the people he held dear to him all at the hands at the brother he loved and admired greatly. Since that point in his life, Sasuke tried to break bonds, to lose himself in his own darkness, but he could have never lost himself since there was always a light present to save him.
She has loved him from a young age. Her childhood crush grew into something genuine and pure; into something that was able to save him. He was never able to break his bond with Sakura and he's not sure why. When he left her that night on the bench, he could have easily have told her he would never have feelings for her, but he didn't. He couldn't because he knew those words would be false. She was the other half of him, but he couldn't be with her. He could have never been with her since they walked on different paths.
She still remembers the feel of his rough hand, wrapped firmly around her neck. She remembers the chirps of a thousand birds, the bright light and intense heat that almost pierced right through her. Sakura often wondered if he would have done it, if he would have really have taken her life, and she knows he would have. He was blinded by his own darkness, lost himself and for the first time she wasn't able to reach him. She now knows that he would have regretted that moment for the remainder of his life. Her death would have sadly been the clarity he needed to realize the path he was walking down was the wrong one, but it would have been too late.
The wind was warm as it danced over their exposed skin and leaves fell from the nearby trees. Emerald eyes of wonder glance up at him briefly to see his reaction, but he shoots her down. Hearing her mumbling with her head hung low, he makes his way towards her. She notices and raises her glances to him, curiously. Her head moves back slightly as his index and middle finger connect with her forehead. "I'll see you when I'm back." A promise of his return, as she blushes and her eyes widen when he adds:
"…and thank you…"
Her eyes widen with realization of knowing he loves her. Her heart soars above all her doubt and worries that were flowing through her body as those two simple words will be the ones to get her through the long years of his absence.
Their love was never easy, but it is real and undeniable.
