all we have is each other

This is for the qualifying round of the Euro 2012 Competition. If I do qualify, I'm hoping to include all my entries for that competition in this story. So, this may be a NextGen collection. But if I don't, then this will stand as a single oneshot.

Anyways, happy reading!

Lucy Weasley wasn't an emotional person. She was practical and sensible. She had realistic dreams. She wanted to be successful and accomplished and nothing else.

She would watch those other girls with broken hearts losing their minds over a boy who left them. She would pity them, and think that she would never let it happen to herself.

But one day, she proved herself wrong. She couldn't stop the inevitable. She went through what any teenage girl does; an unavoidable heartbreak which left her broken and ruined.

She was falling apart then. Bit by bit, she lost her dreams and hopes. They started to seem trivial to her. She wouldn't speak or talk or look at anyone in the eye.

Everyone would try and comfort her, but she never expected Louis to be the one to actually heal her.

He found her alone one night sitting in a dark room crying her eyes out. He didn't speak, but held her in his arms while she cried herself to sleep.

She had shut herself away in such a dark room in which he found her that night; a room with bleak walls and no windows. A room which held her fruitless dreams and in which, she was trapped. And he was the only one who had the courage to push open the closed door and bring her out to see the world with him at her side.

One by one, he picked up the broken pieces of her heart and fixed her. He forced her to smile and laugh, with his constant cheerfulness and optimism. He showed her the world in the way he saw it, with its bright sunshine and clear skies and starry nights.

And one night, while lying on the grass and staring at the stars, Louis gathered all his courage and tenderly pressed his lips on hers. She was hesitant at first. She whispered against his lips, "Louis, we can't do this." We're cousins, she added to herself.

He replied in a voice barely above a whisper, "It's alright, Lucy. We can make it work."

And she relented. Because she knew that Louis wasn't going to be like the other boys. It wouldn't be anywhere near easy, but they could, and would, make it work.

A/N : My first ever Lucy/Louis. I love both of them, and even though it's a bit short, I'm quite proud of this.
