Niles awoke, smiling immediately at the sight of Daphne lying next to him.

"Morning," she said, kissing him. "I was beginning to worry about you."

Niles was confused at that. But he decided not to dwell on it. "I was having the strangest dream. I was sitting in my favorite booth at Nervosa, reading the newspaper...completely naked!" He shook his head in disbelief, wondering where his subconcious could've ever picked that up.

Daphne smiled sympathetically. "Oh, darling. I hate telling you this...but that was no dream."

"Wait, you mean...?"

Daphne nodded, wishing she didn't have to break this news to him.

"Oh, Daphne, I'm so sorry!"

Daphne's heart broke at his expression. "You have nothing to be sorry for! If anybody's to blame for all of this, it's Maris!"

"Yes, but that's still no reason for me to do something like that in public! I'm a disgrace to my family, not to mention my profession!"

Daphne carressed his cheek. "You're nothing of the sort. Just try to relax. It's all over with." She pulled him close, rubbing his back in an attempt to soothe him.

"Relax? Daphne, I've got patients today! That is, if anyone still wants my advice!"

"Darling, why don't you just call Mrs. Woodson and tell her to reschedule everyone? You've been through an awful lot lately, and I think you could use a rest."

Niles started to protest, but then he realized that spending the day here in Daphne's arms might not be such a bad thing. "Oh, my love. Perhaps you're right." He kissed her deeply.

Daphne smiled. "Good. Then while you're making your phone call, I'll go downstairs and start fixing your breakfast."

"Are you sure you should be waiting on me?" Niles asked. "I mean, considering your condition." He reached over to place his hand on her stomach. The gesture caused Daphne to smile.

"I've already checked with the baby, and he – or she – says you deserve it for taking such good care of both of us." She kissed him.

"I know this whole Maris thing hasn't been easy on you, either," Niles said. "I'm sorry it's affecting you and our unborn child."

"Oh, darling, it's all right. We'll get through it. In a few months, it'll be my turn to be waited on. You can make it all up to me then." She grinned at him.

"I love you so much," Niles said. "And don't worry, I'll repay my debt, with interest."

As she kissed Niles again, she thought about what a wonderful husband he was. Just then, the new life inside her moved. She couldn't help thinking that the baby was agreeing with her, telling her that he or she already knew Niles would be a great father as well.
