Kiss

It wasn't a kiss, not really.

There was no lip contact, no battling tongues. But I'll be damned if I didn't feel her sweet breath on my ruined face through the holes in the mask. And I'd sell my jukebox if my lipless mouth wasn't trying and pushing against the lips of Guy Fawkes trying to meet hers.

I'd give this all up if I didn't consider her offer, made of desperation and not love; I was sure, to run away with her.

But I didn't.

And now as I'm slowly blacking out in her thin, capable arms, I'm glad I didn't.

Because in her eyes under the thin layer of agony, there is determination.

She'll pull that lever and we both know it.

It wasn't a kiss, not really.

There was no lip contact, no battling tongues.

But it was enough to replace the uncertainty with determination in her eyes.

So as I come to for the last time in my life, speeding towards Parliament, I'm glad she kissed me. Almost as glad as I am that she pulled that lever.
