Quick drabble; the idea just came to me. Sorry Luna, but we all have to come off our clouds someday.
The apartment was silent, except for the quite sniffling coming from the dining room. Then there was a loud crack, and a tall Italian came appeared in the middle of the kitchen. He paused, alarmed that the usually cheery home was so quite, and then set off in search of his best friend, who he found crying, curled up pitifully in a large armchair. The small blonde women lay with her hair spread in a wreath around her head, her arms locked over her knees in the fetal position, and dryed tear tracks lining her cheeks.
Blaise Zabini was shocked. He had never seen Luna Lovegood so distressed, she was usually a ray of sunshine when clouds filled the sky… at least for him. He had befriended her after Hogwarts, when they were working together in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Blaise quickly fell for the quirky girl, but had yet to tell her.
Now, standing over the sobbing blonde, Blaise felt his heart break. He dropped to his knees and cupped her face in his hands.
"Lulu, what on earth is wrong!"
She just sobbed harder. Blaise was starting to panic when she looked him in the eyes and said
"N-n-nargles aren't r-r-real!" she sobbed, before burying her face in the chair again.
Blaise sighed in relief. He had been sure someone had died, and he had no idea what to do in that situation. But then again, he didn't know how to hand this one either…
He stroked her blonde hair and contemplated the situation he found himself in. He was sad her innocent beliefs had been crushed, but at the same time was glad that she might have been grounded slightly. It was hard to have a relationship with someone who kept babbling about make-believe creatures out of their imagination. He had to do something, and had to start somewhere. He decided talking about it was a good start, so very gently he raised her head to look at him, but she wouldn't meet his eyes.
" Please Lulu…" he murmered
Slowly, very slowly, she lifted her sky blue eyes to meet his, and as soon as they did all thoughts of talking left his mind. They were so full of hurt and disappointment, but he couldn't seem to form the right words to make it go away. So, he did the only thing he could think of. He kissed her.
It was a slow gentle kiss, but both were out of breathe by the end of it.
"Blaise," Luna said "if that's what happens when a one creature isn't real, please tell me the rest aren't either."
Blaise laughed before covering her soft lips with his own once again.
"We can do this any time you want." He murmered as he kissed her on the armchair that she had been crying in just minutes before. Now, her eyes were completely dry.
