There was a steady drumming; rain pitter pattering against the roof as dark skies loomed overhead. To some, such as Lapis, it was peaceful. To others, such as Peridot, it was hell.

"Come on Peri, it's not that bad." Lapis was leaning back on the couch, her tired eyes fixed on the technician as she sprawled out and stretched.

"Speak for yourself!" The green gem snapped back, her eyes wide with fear as another thunderclap echoed in her ears. She flinched and curled up tighter, burrowing as far back as she could into the cushions. "You're a water gem; you might be fine with this, but to me it's terrifying!"

Lapis merely rolled her dark blue eyes in response, a blue pigmented hand reaching out to lightly pet the smaller gem. "Shhh, it'll be fine Peri. The storm should stop in a few minutes."

Peridot pointed a glare her way in response, gritting her teeth though she had noticeably calmed since Lapis's menstruations had started. The technician even moved into the pet a little, a light green hue flashing across her face. Lapis caught the other's blush and smirked, moving herself a bit closer to the shaking gem.

"What are you- aH!" Another clap of thunder rumbled through the air, just as Lapis enveloped the smaller gem in a gentle embrace.

"Come on Peri. Shhh..." Lapis was blushing brightly at that point, though she had no doubt that Peridot's face was burning up at the moment. Eventually the green gem slackened again, inhaling needless oxygen before releasing it in a quiet sigh.

Another thunderclap came through but Lapis merely tightened her grip, bracing the other gem who had finally returned the embrace. It was an oddly comforting gesture, all in all. Homeworld had forbidden such interactions without permission from a high ranking official, so neither was familiar with how calming the action could feel.

Eventually the storm stopped, and Lapis reluctantly pulled away. Peridot's face was still darkly lit, a warm tingling sensation enveloping her being. She was unsure if Lapis had felt the same thing or not, but for the timing being she would keep it to herself.

"T-thank you, Lapis. Your help was... appreciated." The response was awkward at best and she knew it, though her mind had failed in its churnings for a better response.

The ocean gem turned her gaze to the ceiling, a small smile tugging at her lips. "No need to thank me, Peridot. Happy to help."
