A/N: This Fic was entered in "The Script Competition" by GlassCaseOfEmotion on Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges. I used the song "We Cry" by The Script as inspiration for this.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, this is for entertainment purposes only.
There were two shadows.
They stood within the safety of Hogwarts, facing the danger outside. Every few seconds a flare would hit the shield around the large school. Light would expose their hollow faces for a moment. But it was gone as quickly as it came.
"What do you think they're doing?"
"Fighting."
"Probably."
"Remus... Are you afraid?"
The shadow to the right paused for a moment, breathing in the silence around him. He debated saying that he wasn't afraid. That Remus Lupin was a Gryffindor, and Gryffindors are brave even in the most dire circumstances. Even when hope is lost and death lurks in the shadows around every corner. But she would see right through him if he said that.
So he told her the truth, "Yes."
"Me too." Dora responded. She reached out to grab his hand, and clasped it tight.
The shadows stood in silence. But soon the silence was gone. Sounds of screaming and fighting pierced their ears, making them cringe. People were dying. That was what they knew for sure.
A flash of light lit up the sky, and Remus looked over to his wife. He saw the tears wetting her cheeks, and the way she took a shaking breath. The werewolf took a small step towards her and embraced her for what he hoped would not be the last time.
And they cried.
Remus wrapped his arms around his wife, his wand still remained in his hand. She buried her head in his chest and wept.
"Do you think Teddy will be okay?" She asked quietly.
Remus nodded, "He's taken care of for now. And when this is all over, we'll go home and things will go back to how they're supposed to be." He tried to sound as confident as he could, but she knew him all too well.
"It's alright, he'll have a good life. And besides, Harry's the most important now."
Remus nodded, and let go, kissing her lightly, and returning to his position. They both watched the horizon, waiting for their chance to fight.
A/N: So this was originally supposed to be longer, but I liked it better as a short little Drabble. Reviews are greatly appreciated.
