Jessie glared at James. "What's with your attitude today? All you had to do was escort the most beautiful woman in Kalos to a ball, dance with her, eat delicious food, and you had to battle some twerps but really, you've had much worse." They sat at the edge of a lake watching the sun set, wearing their casual clothes.
James looked at her sadly. "I know, I know….it's just that I don't really like those kind of parties…..They remind me of…."
Meowth sighed, arms crossed. "I know where dis is goin….It's da poor little rich boy story."
Jessie rolled her eyes. "Not that again."
James sat there silently with a guilty look on his face. "I'm sorry."
Jessie looked at him and then sighed. "It's a shame you weren't enjoying the party. You were the only male there who could dance worth a damn anyway."
James looked at her with a small smile on his face.
"I mean, did you see the twerps tripping over their own feet the whole time? It was pathetic!" she continued smugly. James nodded, his smile turning into a big grin.
"I mean, they're just twerps, so I wasn't expecting that much, but still, how embarrassing." She stopped and looked over at James, who had completely gotten over his bad mood, and was looking at her with sparkling eyes and a confident smile. She stopped and looked away nonchalantly. Damn, he was attractive.
"Let me make it up to you." He said softly, extending a hand to her.
"Hmph." She continued facing away from him. "There's no music."
They both paused, him still awkwardly reaching towards her. After a little while, he withdrew his hand and just stood there.
Then, they heard some soft romantic music. They both looked around confused, and their eyes met. James raised an eyebrow, and Jessie shrugged and held her hand out. James nodded and took her hand, and they danced in the moonlight.
Somewhere in a tree, Meowth, Inkay, and Gourgeist were sitting in a tree, blasting a radio and giving each other high fives.
