Link was currently chained to the wall. Yes, you read that right. He's chained to the wall for angering the Mad Queen, Zelda. Sure he wasn't executed but that would be a mercy compared to the sounds the walls make.
He could hear the walls speak constantly. Especially when the Queen enters the room, he had horrible nightmares ever since he was imprisoned. Complaining about his current state didn't help, she cut out his tongue in response. He kept quiet after that settling for glaring at her.
When he tried to sleep the walls speak from nowhere and everywhere at once. As a result, he was cranky and annoyed. Link wanted out, he saw the dead eyed looks the servants had whenever they send food to his prison.
The horrified looks of the guards had when their Queen entered the room. The Madness in Zelda's eyes when she spoke to him. He missed his home, the taste of his grandmother's soup, the sounds of his younger sister laughing as she played with the seagulls, the sound of Marin's voice when she sang that song with her beautiful voice. What was it called?
He knew it had something to do with ballad, he remembered the way she sung it but not exactly. It didn't matter, as the memory of that song was what kept him from going mad from the isolation and despair.
Snapped out of his reminiscing Link heard the sounds of fighting. The sounds seem to get closer and closer when suddenly the door to his cell was unlocked and right at the door was.

Until next time. Who was it that saved Link?
