Platinum Heart - Prologue
Melete was a 15-year-old girl with light-green hair. It was about shoulder-length and was tied in two small ponytails on both sides of her head. Normally, she'd be reading a book now, currently though, she was watching TV.
"Pokémon are by our side, always. I hope you will understand the meaning of those words."
That was the comment, left by Prof. Rowan, who has returned to Sinnoh from the Kanto region.
That concludes our special program, "Let's ask Prof. Rowan!"
Brought to you by Jubilife TV on Nationwide Net!
See you next week, same time, same channel!
"So... that guy's—"
"Melete!"
Sighing, she turned to the boy that just ran into her room. He had blonde hair, which always was in a mess, no matter what he did to it. The boy wore a green shirt with stripes and plain grey jeans.
"What do you want, Yuri?" Melete asked her friend.
"Did you just see the TV? Sure you did! Prof. Rowan's that really important guy who studies Pokémon, right?"
"Obviously, or he wouldn't be called 'Professor'."
"That means he must have lots and lots of Pokémon. So if we'd ask him, I bet he'd give us some!"
Melete stared at the grinning boy in disbelief. "Are you nuts, or something? We can't just randomly run into his lab, saying 'We want some Pokémon!' and believing that he'd give us some," was her reply.
Obviously not listening – like always – Yuri ran towards the girl's new computer. "Oh hey! Is this a new PC?"
Melete sighed in frustration, which got the blonde back to business. "Oh, uhh... where was I?"
"You were talking about Prof. Ro–"
"Oh, right, right! We're going to Prof. Rowan and get some Pokémon!"
"Are you even listening to me?"
Apparently not, since he just ran past the frustrated girl and towards the door. "I'll be waiting outside then!" he said, "Okay, Melete? If you're late, I'm fining you 10 milion Pokédollar!"
"Wha-?"
And with a SLAM! the door went shut again. Rubbing her forehead, she sighed and went after Yuri. When she got downstairs, she was greeted by her mother.
"Melete!"
"Hey, mom."
"Yuri already left. I don't know what it was about, but he sure was in a hurry!"
"Typical Yuri..." Melete sighed.
"He asked me to tell you to go to his house, he'd be waiting for you."
"Alright."
The girl made her way towards the door when her mother called her back.
"Oh yes! Melete!"
"Yes?" she asked.
"Be careful outside the village. Wild Pokémon might attack you."
"Okay, I'll keep that in mind."
"It would be okay if you had your own Pokémon, but you don't so..." her mom trailed off.
Smiling, Melete turned back to the door. "It's alright mom, I can defend myself, with Pokémon or not."
She heard her mother giggle. "Okay. Take care sweetie."
"I will, thanks mom." And with that, she went outside.
