Kyoko wandered along the coast until she could no longer hear the sweet but trying keening chatter of children with parents. With parents that actually loved them… Kyoko winced outwardly as if the thought was a snake that was rising to bite her.
No, Kyoko. Don't let the darkness take you. Not when the very sun and sea have called you. Yes, they called you.
And with that she smiled, lost in the story that was almost forming in her head. It was so close to the tip of her tongue, she could taste it with the same vivid sharpness as the salt spray. Finally she found silence. A silence that was truly golden for it's warmth beneath the tropical sun and the pale sand beneath her toes. The sea rocked the world and like preparing for a bedtime story, Kyoko closed her eyes.
Somewhere… In this beautiful sea…
A faint splash tugged at her consciousness.
Lived a beautiful
Kyoko opened one eye, half heartedly. Not truly interested in what she would see but looking nonetheless.
Mermaid Princess
Then she truly saw him. Soaked white collared shirt hugging his skin as he rose out of the water, letting small rivers run down his back. He was pushing the hair back, out of his eyes; inadvertently recreating one of his signature modeling looks.
Her eyes going wide, mouth agape; Kyoko's time seemed to freeze.
There was no mistaking him. He was zoned out, at first feeling nothing but the ocean pushing him back to the shore. Blue/green eyes unfocused, unfeeling. But then his eyes focused… on her.
Recognition snapped his eyes wide open and still standing waist deep in water, his arms fell to his sides, his mouth fell open, and he mirrored her.
Quite without her permission, Kyoko's mind jolted and prattled on… entwining reality with fairy tales… as it always did.
Mermaid Princess-
Mermaid PRINCE
A beautiful mermaid prince with hair like the sun and eyes like the sea….
Ren regained himself and began to slowly make his way to her, inwardly panicking. His thoughts scrambling in the sea foam.
'You're blonde. You're blonde! No calm down. That's okay. There are plenty of reasons for Ren Tsuruga to be blonde. Goddamit, no there aren't! You're on the same job as her! You're supposed to be her brother for crying out loud! The brother's british! This is just a complicated set up! She'll Never buy that! This is bad. You're blonde!
Bad- blonde- Blonde! Why is she so early anyway? Bad blonde bad bad blonde blonde BLONDE-'
Kyoko tried to greet him, wanted to simply slip into their easy companionship but what came out of her mouth was a daydream drowsy whisper, "Mer-Prince!"
Ren paled as he watched her redden in embarrassment. He had just heard her say: My Prince… His broken record mind finally came to a shuddering halt.
'blonde- blonde… Busted.'
